Houston Audio Rentals is Hiring an AV Technician Near Sugar, TX

Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Level 1 Audio Visual Technician to join our team. As a Level 1 AV Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing technical support and assistance with audiovisual equipment setup, operation, and maintenance for various events, presentations, conferences, or performances.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the setup and configuration of audio and video equipment, including microphones, speakers, projectors, screens, cameras, mixers, amplifiers, and other AV components.
  • Assist with conducting sound checks, adjusting microphone levels, and balancing audio outputs to ensure optimal sound quality.
  • Assist in the operation of audio and video systems during events, presentations, or performances, ensuring a seamless experience.
  • Assist in the installation and operation of lighting systems, including stage lights, spotlights, and special effects lighting, to enhance the visual aspect of the event.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to presenters, performers, or event participants in using AV equipment.
  • Learn to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to audio, video, or lighting equipment with guidance.
  • Assist in connecting various audio and video components, ensuring proper signal flow and integration.
  • Learn to program and operate audio-visual control systems, such as switchers, scalers, and interfaces, under the supervision of senior technicians.
  • Assist in performing routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, calibrating, and updating firmware for AV equipment.
  • Learn to keep an inventory of AV equipment, including tracking usage, repairs, and replacements.
  • Understanding the AV requirements of event organizers, producers, or clients, and provide support accordingly.
  • Learn to assist in event planning and coordination, including determining equipment needs, setup logistics, and scheduling.
  • Stay updated on emerging audio and video technologies, industry trends, and best practices through continuous learning.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • (Optional) Relevant certifications or technical training in audiovisual technology is a plus.
  • Some experience working with audio and video equipment is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of audio and video equipment, including microphones, speakers, projectors, mixers, amplifiers, cameras, and lighting systems is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with audio and video signal flow, cabling, and connectivity is a plus.
  • Strong technical aptitude and a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required for event support.

Note: This position is an entry-level role, and on-the-job training and mentorship will be provided to develop your skills as an Audio Visual Technician.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 – 32 per week

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Preferred)

Willingness to travel:

  • 75% (Preferred)
