Why Camp Catalyst?

The primary purpose of this position is to provide leadership and guidance to campers, ensuring their safety and facilitating engaging activities that promote learning and growth. Under the direction of the Camp Catalyst Manager, this position contributes to the planning, development, and implementation of program activities.

The Camp Catalyst Counselor plays a pivotal role in bringing our mission to life, to combat summer learning loss and foster social-emotional skills among students entering 3rd through 5th grade. Guided by our motto "Better Together," we create an inclusive environment where every camper feels valued and supported.

Schedule:

Counselor Position runs: July 2nd, 2024 – August 10th, 2024; Tuesday – Thursday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Camp runs: Tuesdays - Thursdays from July 9th to August 8th.

Compensation: $15.00 per hour

• Supervise campers during various activities, fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
• Assist in planning and implementing a diverse camp program that supports emotional regulation and conflict resolution skills.
• Participate in overall camp program planning, contributing ideas and feedback.
• Consistently maintain safety standards, ensuring the well-being of campers.
• Build positive relationships with campers, parents, and staff, fostering open communication.
• Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of camp areas.
• Report any issues or concerns to the Camp Catalyst Manager for resolution.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience

• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with diverse groups of people.
• CPR and First Aid certification, along with Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire.
• Experience working with children and implementing age-appropriate activities.
• Previous experience with diverse populations is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear.
• Occasional operation of objects or tools.
• Climbing, balancing, stooping, or kneeling may be required.
• Light lifting (5-10 lbs.) and infrequent heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.).
• Work both indoors and outdoors, exposed to various weather conditions.
