Housing Authority of Jackson County Illinois is Hiring a Resident Office Assistant Near Murphysboro, IL

The Housing Authority of the County of Jackson, Illinois (?JCHA?) was established in 1946 and the first public housing was constructed in 1960. Since then, JCHA's mission is to provide safe decent, and sanitary housing to low-income families, elderly families, disabled families, and low-income individuals in 6 towns throughout the County. The programs administered by JCHA consist of Public Housing Units, Housing Choice Vouchers, and 12 Multi-Family Housing units.
The Housing Authority has openings for its public housing residents to join the team part-time as Resident Office Assistant under the Resident Service Stipend initiative. The position has limited hours of 3 to 5 hours per week between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The schedule will be set upon hire. The compensation for the position is up to $200 per month and is dependent on the number of hours worked.
The role of the Resident Office Assistant is recognized as a key function to proactively manage, to a high standard, properties owned and/or managed by JCHA. Key responsibilities include ensuring that clerical, and program-specific support for the low-income housing programs and other related tasks.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
Reviews incoming facsimiles for distribution as necessary and appropriate.
Assists with scheduling intake appointments as assigned.
Makes photocopies as necessary.
Passes out flyers.
Answers Phones.
Assists with event planning activities.
Assists with inventory management and supply orders.
Assists with updating the vendor and landlord listings.
Assists with entering data on spreadsheets and in logs.
Assists with the food box program distribution.
Assists with processing of outgoing mail; keeps mailing records.
Assists with document filing of electronic and paper files.
Assists with the invoicing process.
Other general office tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities
Ability to contribute to a positive work environment and display the same positivity to the applicants, participants, and tenants.
Ability to train in a supportive and fair manner.
Proficient in and/or aptitude to learn computer skills and ability to learn JCHA software systems.
Clerical skills including record keeping, report preparation, filing methods, and records management techniques helpful.
Ability to work independently and multi-task on a variety of tasks.
Maintain reliable and predictable attendance.
Ability to use tact, discretion, initiative, and independent judgment within established guidelines.
Ability to apply logical thinking to solve problems or accomplish tasks to understand and communicate complicated policies and procedures.
Keep and guard all applicants, tenants, and participants? personal information in a private manner.
Establishing and maintaining ethical and cooperative relationships with all those contacted in work.
Ability to learn and be trained on complicated policies and procedures.
Ability to be a constant professional at work; including professionally dressed, groomed, and speaking professionally to clients and staff.
Ability to respect and take care of the facility, and not be wasteful of supplies.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirement (with or without reasonable accommodation)
There are several deadlines associated with this position, which may cause significant stress.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods.
Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets and office machinery.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
Frequently communicates with third parties, applicants, tenants, participants, and co-workers regarding files. Must be able to exchange accurate information.

Must be a current resident of the Jackson County Housing Authority.
