DEPARTMENT: Parts

LOCATION: Walford, IA

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

PRIMARY PURPOSE: This position is responsible for identifying and issuing the correct parts and accessories to customers and other departments in a timely and defect free manner with a positive demeanor.

FOCUS:

  • Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and greet walk-in customers.
  • Sell parts to external and internal customers.
  • Write and present estimates for parts.
  • Discuss the use and features of various parts based on knowledge of equipment.
  • Utilize catalogs and computer systems to look up replacement part stock numbers.
  • Examine all returned parts to determine if defective and exchange part or issue credits.
  • Record sales by invoicing customer.
  • Collect payments from customer by check or cash and follow prescribed processing procedures for the dealership.
  • Maintain and create good customer and internal relationships.
  • Participate in job-related training and development.
  • Perform routine housekeeping tasks.
  • Maintain a professional image at all times.
  • Follow the Company's safety rules and safety policies.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Sales experience in a related field a plus.
  • Previous parts experience, preferably in a heavy-duty industry, highly preferred.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work extended hours and/or weekends, as needed.
  • Ability to interpret customer needs
  • Capable of operating a forklift safely

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Oral communication over the phone and in person.
  • Ability to view a computer monitor.
  • Alpha/numeric keyboarding.
  • Must be able to lift in excess of 75 pounds of material.
  • Requires the use of both hands.
  • Frequently required to bend, stoop, crouch and reach.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The work environment for this position is varied due to the differences in our work site. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic and outside weather conditions.
  • Potentially exposed to battery acid, gasoline, chemical cleaning material or other toxic materials commonly found in motor vehicle service departments, some of which may be considered health hazards.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Works indoors and out.
