Housby Mack is Hiring a Body Shop Estimator Near Des Moines, IA

Location: Des Moines

FLSA Status: Exempt

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Housby is looking for an experienced Body Shop Estimator to join our team. This position will be responsible for providing quality estimates and customer service to our existing customers, while also seeking new opportunities to build upon.

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Examine damaged vehicles to determine the extent of structural, mechanical or interior damage.
  • Estimate cost of labor and parts to repair or replace each damaged item.
  • Determine feasibility of repair versus replacement or parts.
  • Provide estimates on any job over 25 hours to the Body Shop Manager so they can provide expectations to the technicians.
  • Visit existing customers to grow the relationship and solicit additional business.
  • Inspect damaged units and compose timely and accurate estimates for repairs.
  • Negotiate and finalize pricing with customers,
  • Leverage all product lines, paint, and body, mechanical, etc. to increase revenue within accounts.
  • Communicate fully with customers as to the status of work in progress.
  • Advise customers of unit completion or changes.
  • Provide repair or replacement parts list to technicians.
  • Develop long-term professional relationships with assigned accounts.
  • Maintain appropriate communication within and between all areas of the Body Shop.
  • Work extended hours and weekends when needed.
  • Promote safe work habits and ensure that all regulations and rules are followed.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Basic understanding of all phases of a Body Shop operation.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Must be organized, with the ability to handle multiple repairs and quotes at once.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to working with employees, as well as other departments, for the overall success of the company.

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to view a computer monitor.
  • Alpha/numeric keyboarding.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Standing, climbing, stooping, squatting, walking, and reaching for long periods of time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The work environment for this position is varied due to the differences in our work site. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical, vibrations, fumes or airborne particles, toxic and outside weather conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to very loud.
  • Works indoors and out. Exposed to outside weather.
