Summary

The Security Officer/Agent maintains a safe and secure environment for guest and associates my monitoring premises and personnel.

Essential Functions

To perform the Security Officer/agent position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor security cameras to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows and gates
  • Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances. Notify MOD and/or Engineer on Duty.
  • Conduct daily bag checks as associates exit the premises
  • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of associates, visitors, deliveries and other persons to guard against theft and security of premises
  • Issue a “Visitor’s Pass” as needed
  • Update Security Logs with activities and irregularities
  • Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons
  • Remind associates of rule infractions or violations (punching in/out in regular clothes, cell phone usage at Security window. Report issues to Department Manager
  • Evict violators from premises
  • Ensure all interactions with associates and visitors at the Security window are of professional nature. No loitering of associates, visitors or vendors.
  • Identify potential security problems and premises hazards by patrolling lobbies, corridors, rest rooms, entrances, floors etc…(Follow checklists)
  • Responsible for the care and control of radios, keys and other equipment assigned as well as the proper processing and care of all found or otherwise impounded property. Responsible for correctly recording and securing lost and found valuable items.
  • Must learn HOTSOS for the process that is in place
  • Complete all daily activity reports and logs
  • Work in Front Lobby to provide appropriate assistance to guests and visitors in an expedient and professional manner
  • Monitor hotel entrances by patrolling the perimeter of the hotel to ensure no danger is lurking
  • Other duties as assigned by Guest Service Manager

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required for an individual to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of the Back Door Guard position:

Language Ability

· Effectively interact and communicate in English with people from diverse backgrounds

· Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals

· Write routine reports and correspondence

· Speak effectively to present information before groups of guests, customers or associates of the hotel

Math Ability

· Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals

  • Compute rate, ratio and percent

Reasoning Ability

· Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form

  • Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

Work Environment

· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

  • The position is located indoors where the temperature settings are controlled

Physical Demands

· Regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
  • Regularly stand, walk, use hands to fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear

· Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl

  • Sit for extended periods of time
  • Safely navigate multiple flights of stairs

Position Status and Availability

· Available to work a full-time shift, Monday - Sunday including weekends, holidays and Overnight shift.

Education and Experience

· A high school diploma or general education degree (GED)

· At least one (1) year of customer service experience

· At least one (1) year of Security or Surveillance experience preferably in hospitality

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.29 - $19.61 per hour
