Summary:

The Director of Sales position is the head of the sales and events department along with having the responsibility for sourcing business to meet personal, hotel and team budgeted goals. The ideal candidate will successfully meet all established individual and team sales quotas while consistently providing memorable guest experiences. They will be expected to portray the hotel and brand’s values to find the best suited clients and guests.

The successful application must have good communication skills, the ability to resolve conflict, an understanding of hotel & event operations, and a thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies. All Bunkhouse employees are expected to greet all guests in proximity and make each feel important by providing a genuine welcome. Furthermore, they must develop and maintain the company’s culture, values, and reputation in the public eye, and with all staff, guests, vendors and partners.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or hospitality management - equivalent combination of education, training and experience may substitute for education requirements.
  • Five (5) years or more of experience in luxury hotel sales.
  • A proven track record of exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent guest relation skills, including guest incident follow-up.
  • Maintains the ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Resourceful problem-solving skills, self-motivated, driven and task oriented.
  • Holds self and others accountable to consistently maintain high performance standards.
  • Strong work ethic with a high level of integrity and dedication to the values of the company.
  • Organized with a proven track record of setting priorities and problem solving while utilizing good judgment and effective decision-making.
  • Computer knowledge Microsoft Office and office skills required.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Strong familiarity with hotel systems such as PMS and POS systems.
  • Fluency in multiple languages is a plus.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Achieve individual goals from designated market segments.
  • Establish procedures in conjunction with Hotel Operations team to best execute sales and event programs.
  • Put together and execute annual Sales & Marketing Plan and expense budget.
  • Attend special sales events, outbound sales efforts, and onsite property tours. Attends local networking events as representation for the brand and hotel.
  • Recommend and administer policies and procedures to enhance operations.
  • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate department staff.
  • Qualifies prospective leads, creates tailored proposals, and responds in a timely manner to RFPs.
  • Identifying customer needs & opportunities to upsell property and maximize revenue.
  • Produce accurate monthly sales reports, including the progress of booked business and key account performance. Maintain database of all leads and business opportunities, ensuring follow up and continued relationship growth.
  • Seek out new business through market research and conduct sales calls on all accounts, providing appropriate & prompt follow up.
  • Leads process to ensure client and guest satisfaction, developing relationships with new clients and existing guests driving customer loyalty and repeat business.
  • Stays current on industry trends and seeks creative ways to infiltrate markets / accounts.
  • Adheres to all departmental policies, service procedures and standards expected.
  • Performs other tasks or projects as assigned.

Based upon fluctuating demands of the operation and to exceed customer expectations, it may be necessary to perform a multitude of different functions not specifically related to this position. This person may be expected to perform other tasks and duties as needed or as directed. Furthermore, employee responsibilities and job descriptions are subject to review and revision.

Working Conditions:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • The person in this position may have to lift up to fifty (50) pounds on a daily basis; anything over fifty (50) pounds is considered a minimum two (2) person lift
  • The person having this position may have to sit for one (1) hour, stand and/or walk, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for eight (8) hours per day
