Hospitality Training Academy is Hiring an Outreach Specialist Near Los Angeles, CA

ABOUT HTA:

Join us in changing peoples' lives! The Hospitality Training Academy (HTA) is a non-profit organization and a labor-management partnership between UNITE HERE Local 11 and contributing hotel and food service employers in Los Angeles and Orange Counties, and the state of Arizona. The HTA is designed to improve Los Angeles' and Arizona’s tourism and hospitality industry by increasing the skill level of its workforce and moving workers up the career ladder. Before the pandemic, the hospitality industry was one of the largest growing sec- tors in Southern California, with a projected growth rate higher than all other jobs in the region, and the nation. Right now, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our HTA team as we expand our program and build back up after the recovery from the pandemic.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Outreach Specialist will be responsible for the coordination and execution of outreach and recruitment strategies targeting marginalized and vulnerable populations and communities in need, for the purpose of promoting the Hospitality Training Academy (HTA) and its objective to provide training and placement in the hospitality and food services industry. The Outreach Specialist will report to the Program team. This role is full-time, non-exempt.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and create a comprehensive outreach plan including identifying target outreach areas and most impactful access channels.
  • Develops and manages strategic partnerships to develop relationships with community- and faith-based organizations, One-Stop Centers/AJCCs, and other private and public entities to generate referrals of clients to the HTA and its programs
  • Develops and maintains relationships with referral sources
  • Work in collaboration with the Program Team to achieve shared goals and meet grant expectations.
  • Plan, attend, facilitate outreach activities aimed at promoting the HTA. Delivers presentations and distributes materials at outreach events and activities
  • Participates in marketing HTA to partner organizations, social media and at community outreach events.
  • Organize, attend, and present at public/private groups, neighborhood community meetings, etc.
  • Implement direct outreach activities in the field such as site visits, etc.
  • Executes on outreach strategy and tracks data to measure results for reporting purposes
  • Responsible for meeting monthly, quarterly and annual goals as set by leadership
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with business partners
  • Passionate about HTA’s mission and impact, including workforce and the ability of a good job with benefits to change lives
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills required
  • Strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail; self-starter, can-do attitude and positive approach;
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point), client database software and video conferencing platforms such as zoom
  • Skill and knowledgeable in use of social media marketing sites including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3 years of non-profit experience preferred, including experience in the initiation, implementation and coordination of work in the community
  • Proven experience working with historically-marginalized, diverse communities with a sensitivity to differences in multicultural settings and environments
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, have regular use of a motor vehicle and evidence of automobile liability insurance
  • Bilingual English & Spanish

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull 30lbs

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.84 - $30.86 per year
