Assistant Food Service Manager

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • At least two years food service supervisory and/or management experience.
  • Minimum of two years of acute or long-term care experience.
  • ServSafe Manager certification.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Food Service Manager will be responsible for assisting the Food Service Manager in directing and overseeing the operational needs of the Food Service Department. This position will ensure that the operation delivers high quality food and friendly service. The Assistant Food Service Manager will ensure that the department operates in a professional and efficient manner. This position will demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills with all employees.

Essential Functions:

  • Implement and enforce policies and procedures related to patient services, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards and regulations.
  • Provide operational guidance and support to ensure seamless day-to-day functioning of patient and food service departments
  • Responsible for cleanliness, quality and all Federal, State and City regulations related to food handling, service and Life Safety.
  • Assists in the hiring process; interview, hiring and training of new associates
  • Conducts regular inspections and makes recommendations.
  • Effectively communicate with staff, administration, and other departments.
  • Ensures Kitchen labor and non-labor expenses fall within budgeted guidelines. Analysis and review of food purchases and cost containment. Develop ideas for expense reduction.
  • Identifies and implements operational efficiencies.
  • Works with Kitchen staff and Clinical Units for process improvements for better service and expense reduction.
  • Supports and guides the Food Service Department as needed under the leadership of the department manager.
  • Meets with Unit Managers and patients to ensure the Kitchen meets expectations
  • Assists in the yearly creation of the Operational and Capital budgets
