Description

Want to join our team as a Compliance Resource Nurse? We are currently looking for a nurse who would be responsible for collaborative development and execution of key elements of the compliance program at Hospice of the Chesapeake (HOC). This position conducts documentation reviews and investigations, collects data, analyzes trends, and identifies areas or issues for performance improvement. Serves as a resource to HOC staff and leadership.

Office Location: Pasadena, MD

Status: Full-time

Schedule: Monday – Friday 8am – 4:30pm

Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience, education and credentialing

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the organization, implementation, and facilitation of the compliance program; monitors performance and related activities on a continuing basis, taking appropriate steps to improve its effectiveness.
  • Facilitates the organization's continuous state of CMS and Joint Commission/ACHC survey readiness through activities such as but not limited to: rounding, observational visits with staff, mock surveys, and participation in IDTs. Participates in on-site surveys as needed.
  • Conducts the review of policies and procedures, and creates and contributes to review of standards of work.
  • Conducts audits of business and clinical documentation to ensure compliance with all regulations and organizational policy and procedures. Assists with the design of action plans, audit tools, training materials and data collection in response to identified needs.
  • Facilitates document retrieval, tracking, review, and organization of records requested by outside entities in collaboration with HIM and/or Accounting in a timely manner. Reviews clinical documentation and composes compelling appeal letters utilizing best practice tools and resources to ensure favorable findings.
  • Contributes to the mitigation of compliance risk through the investigation of reported suspected compliance infractions; reviews any applicable records, prepares investigation summaries, makes recommendations, and facilitates system and process changes.
  • Provides consultation, education, coaching and training of staff and leadership on topics such as but not limited to: policy and procedures, Code of Conduct, Conditions of Participation, Joint Commission/ACHC, HIPAA etc. Works collaboratively to develop an effective compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all employees and managers.

Qualifications


Your Qualifications:

  • Licensed as a RN in Maryland, BSN degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years healthcare quality, compliance, home health or hospice experience. Clinical documentation review experience in hospice preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of clinical aspects of patient care and compliance in hospice industry.
  • Working knowledge of process improvement methodology and tools.
  • Skilled in identifying the many aspects of complex problems, able to review related information and then develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience with developing and preparing training materials and conducting small training sessions. Oral and written communication, ability to facilitate groups and work with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure, with attention to details and deadlines and to simultaneously handle multiple projects.
