Hospice of Southern Maine is Hiring a Float Nurse (RN) Near Scarborough, ME

Hospice of Southern Maine is seeking two Float Nurses (RNs) to work in various locations/departments. Incumbents will be guaranteed a minimum of 36 hours each week, but need to be available to work up to 40 hours per week. Incumbents need to be available to work between the hours of 7am and 7:30pm and at least two weekends per month. The schedule will be a floating schedule, but will be provided at least 2 weeks in advance. Rate of pay premium provided for this position. FLEXIBILITY A MUST!

The Float Nurse (RN) is responsible to provide quality, cost effective hospice nursing care, within an interdisciplinary team, in a competent holistic manner for an assigned group of patients, through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care; to empower patients and families to achieve maximum levels of comfort and independence. The Float nurse work in the Hospice In-Patient Unit, Hospice Home Program and Access Department depending on the need of the organization.

Graduate of an NLN accredited nursing program. Associates degree in Nursing required, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required. Inpatient nursing experience required. Minimum of 1 year of supervisory, inpatient facility (at least the SNF), hospice and/or oncology experience preferred. An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered. Registered Nurse licensure by the State of Maine. BLS certification or the ability to obtain certification within the first 90 days of employment required. Certification must be kept active during the course of employment.
