Job Title: Marketing Manager

Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:30am-4:30pm

The Marketing Manager reports to the Chief Advancement Officer and works with senior management, governing board, staff, volunteers, and vendors to plan, manage, and execute the organization's marketing, communications, and community outreach. The Marketing Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and analyzing marketing, communications, and community outreach efforts; identifying market trends; designing materials; creating budgets; and ensuring marketing, communications, and community outreach align with the organization’s overall goals.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will supervise third-party vendor relationships, potential full-time or part-time employees and interns in the future. Volunteers will be supervised on a project assignment basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

Marketing Responsibilities

  • Develop short-term and long-term marketing plans to meet the needs of the organization and position it for growth, including development and management of multichannel plans, including, but not limited to, advertising schedules (including advertising buys and design), digital marketing campaigns, email marketing campaigns, social media management, and website content management (including search engine optimization).
  • Develop relationships with local media resources, politicians, and community leaders in Orange and Sullivan Counties through research and personal interaction (and identify and maintain a database of segmented marketing lists).
  • Continuous research and identification of new marketing opportunities in geographic regions through collaboration with operations and clinical staff to ensure visibility and name recognition for patients, their family members, physicians, and other referral sources.
  • Responsible for maintaining clean records and marketing lists and managing marketing efforts in the Advancement Department’s customer relations management software (CRM).
  • Take pictures of services and events to promote the organization through digital and printed materials.
  • Create organizational collateral materials and branding, style, and editorial guides as needed.

Advertising Responsibilities

  • Design, print, and evaluate all advertising, collateral materials, and promotional items, including budget allotments.
  • Update, order, and keep an inventory of all collateral and promotional materials.
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics.

Communications Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews, write articles, and coordinate production of all publications, including the Focus (newsletter), produced twice a year, and other organization newsletters.
  • Coordinate appearances on the monthly radio show, The Nonprofit Notebook, on WTBQ.
  • Write and distribute press releases, following internal approval processes before distribution.
  • Write feature articles for local news sources.
  • In partnership with the Chief Advancement Officer and Director of Development, produce the HOSC Annual Report and Annual Report for We Honor Veterans Level 5 annual accreditation.
  • Assist with grant writing as directed by the Chief Advancement Officer.
  • Maintain records of all articles that are published.

Advancement / Department Responsibilities

  • Assist in meeting agency fundraising goals by providing support through marketing and advertising to achieve and exceed annual expected outcomes.
  • Attend various meetings and community functions.
  • Assist with all Advancement efforts as directed by the Chief Advancement Officer.

Reporting Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and report monthly to the Chief Advancement Officer on
    • Identified Key Performance Indicators.
    • Status of marketing initiatives.
    • Marketing efforts impact census, referral sources, and donations.

Required Skills/ Abilities:

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, including the ability to speak publicly.
  • Superior interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Orange and Sullivan Counties service area.
  • Knowledge of data collection and compilation for strategic and financial analysis.
  • Well organized, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.

Required Physical/Emotional Skills/ Abilities:

  • Must be able to stand for long periods.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to handle high-stress, high-pressure environments.
  • Must be able to exercise independent judgment and make decisions independently.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum five years of professional experience in marketing & communications.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Experience developing marketing campaigns and maintaining websites, including plug-ins & widgets.
  • Experience with social media management software and email marketing software preferred.
  • Experience implementing marketing and communications best practices within an organization.
  • Must provide 2-3 samples of marketing or communications pieces created.
