POSITION SUMMARY The Production Machinist is responsible for making parts ready for welding and fabrication. Using a Manual Lathe, youre machining fittings with chamfers or bevels. Note: Must be proficient at running a Manual Lathe. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESPlan and prepare the operationSelect best method of machining to achieve desired tolerance, speed and finishPerform calculation to form the work piece, calculate speed and feedMonitor the feed rate and speed of the machine Select tools and materials for the job, plan the sequence of cutting and finishing operations, and mark the work piece to show where cuts should be madePerform the necessary machining operationsAbility to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or equivalent Ability to understand and follow English instructions Ability to read and understand all measuring devicesStrong math skills required Ability to operate a lift truck COPETENCIES CommunicationSafety Values, trust and integrity Continuous learning Customer FocusQuality Interpersonal skillsTeam effectiveness PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; push/pull up to 70 pounds; transfer 50 - 100 pounds with the help of another person.Must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.Good vision requiredMust be able to stand for long periods of time.Ability to use hand and power tools.
