Position Overview:

The Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Student Intervention Coach plays a crucial role at Horizon Science Academy Elementary School, supporting the behavioral, emotional, and social needs of students in grades 3-5. This role involves working closely with students, teachers, and parents to implement effective behavioral interventions and social-emotional learning strategies. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of child development, positive behavior support, and restorative practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Behavior Intervention: Develop, implement, and monitor behavior intervention plans for students exhibiting challenging behaviors. Collaborate with teachers and support staff to provide consistent and effective support.
• Social Emotional Learning: Design and lead SEL activities and programs for students in grades 3-5. Promote emotional intelligence, resilience, empathy, and social skills through classroom-based lessons, small group activities, and school-wide initiatives.
• Restorative Practices: Facilitate restorative circles and conflict resolution sessions to address behavioral issues and promote a positive school climate. Engage students in reflective practices to foster accountability and growth.
• Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and analyze behavior-related data to identify trends and inform intervention strategies. Prepare regular reports on student progress and intervention outcomes for school leadership.
• Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with teachers, school counselors, and administrators to ensure a coordinated approach to behavior intervention and SEL. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians to keep them informed of their child's progress and involve them in intervention strategies.
• Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and development to stay updated on best practices in SEL and behavior intervention. Share knowledge and resources with school staff to enhance their capacity to support students.
• Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate support and guidance in crisis situations involving students. Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during challenging incidents.
• Community Engagement: Build relationships with community organizations and resources to expand the school's capacity to support students' social and emotional needs. Coordinate with external partners for additional support services as needed.
• PBIS: Chair the PBIS and follow up on all the designation processes with the accreditation agencies.
