QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Earth Science, or a related field from an accredited institution, and hold, or be eligible to hold, a Virginia Teaching License in Earth Science. Proficiency in scientific concepts, laboratory techniques, and instructional strategies is essential. Experience in curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment strategies for middle school students is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively engage students, colleagues, and parents. A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with advancements in science education is expected.
DESCRIPTION
The Earth Science Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality science instruction to students in grades 6-8, in Middle School Science concepts and Earth Science. This role involves creating an engaging and dynamic learning environment that fosters students' curiosity and enthusiasm for science. The teacher will develop and implement a rigorous science curriculum that aligns with state standards and promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific literacy.

SUPERVISION
The Earth Science Teacher reports to the school principal or assistant principal.
WORK CONDITIONS
This position operates within a middle school setting, including classrooms and science laboratories. The work environment may involve exposure to chemicals, biological specimens, and laboratory equipment. The teacher may need to lift and carry materials and equipment, as well as perform tasks that require standing, walking, and moving around the classroom. Additionally, the teacher may attend meetings, workshops, and school events outside of regular school hours. Employees may be required to perform emergency and non-emergency health-related services for students as needed.
