Hopewell Animal Hospital has been serving the Tri-cities community since 1950 and has been owned and operated by the same family since 1980. We are a small animal privately owned practice that takes pride in providing a family yet professional atmosphere to our clients and our strong loyal support staff. We provide a modern facility that includes dental x-ray, digital x-ray, ultrasound, large breakroom with a full kitchen and much more. We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Head Veterinarian to join our team. As a Head Veterinarian, you will provide medical care and treatment to a variety of small animals, ensuring their health and well-being. This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference in the lives of animals and their owners in our well-loved community.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough examinations of animals and diagnose illnesses or injuries
- Develop and implement treatment plans for animals, including prescribing medications and performing surgeries
- Perform routine procedures such as vaccinations, dental cleanings as well as surgical procedures
- Provide emergency care to injured or critically ill animals
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventive healthcare measures using exceptional customer service communication skills
- Maintain accurate medical records for all patients
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and other staff members to ensure efficient and effective patient care
- Stay up to date with advancements in veterinary medicine and participate in continuing education opportunities
Requirements:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited veterinary school
- Valid state veterinary and DEA licenses
- Aseptic technique knowledge for surgical procedures
- Proficiency in veterinary terminology and animal physiology
- Strong animal handling skills, including restraint techniques
- Knowledge of animal care best practices and preventive healthcare measures
- Experience with dog training and handling is preferred but not required
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple cases simultaneously
