Join Honeywell as a Senior R&D Manager, Chemistry, who will lead discovery of the novel chemistries and compositions for Honeywell Advanced Materials Division. This position will manage a diverse group of chemists and technicians at our Research Center in Buffalo, NY, and is a critical part of the of the Discovery & Innovation group, that identifies and develops new and unique chemistry solutions to the current and emerging materials needs in the areas of data storage and communication, advanced energy storage, automotive and stationary refrigeration, personal care, building and construction, life sciences, and electronics. 

Key Responsibilities

•Lead executions of the new chemistry projects aligned with the strategic growth programs of Honeywell Advanced Materials in the areas of sustainability, life sciences and digitization.
•Promote creativity to generate new ideas and open idea sharing within team and with other R&D groups.
•Lead by example and set expectations for others to read and analyze patents, open literature and competitor’s intellectual property to achieve best in class ideation process for new molecules and chemistries routes to make them. 
•Supervise and mentor scientists and technicians in the group to ensure sound experimentation and inclusive resource planning.
•Ensure high quality scientific data analysis and interpretation, presentations by scientists in group and leadership reviews settings.
•Foster and promote outward focused curiosity to connect with outside experts in academia and industry.
•Effectively interface with other teams, namely Properties, Applications, Analytical, Simulations, Product Stewardship, Process Development and Scale-Up to ensure various inputs, such as new application performance requirements, chemical toxicology, cost and scalability are incorporated in the new molecules’ discovery process.
•Identify needs for and provide justification for new laboratory capabilities and instrumentation.
•Acquire and develop talent, provide performance development, reviews, and career path discussions for employees.
•Empower the team and create and foster inclusive and open team environment and communication.
•Ensure safe operations of the chemistry labs in compliance with Honeywell HSE policies.
•Manage group’s budget, annual operating plan and participate in the strategic planning process with other functional R&D leaders.
