ABOUT THE ROLE

Visiting customer refineries, chemical plants, or fabrication shops to assess the mechanical integrity of the process equipment and verify conformance to Honeywell UOP, customer, and code specifications. Physical inspection requires climbing up, crawling through, and walking on pressure vessels, storage tanks and piping at the process plant or in fabrication shops. During plant turnarounds, inspectors assess equipment condition, issue repair recommendations, verify suitable completion of the repairs, and forecast future maintenance or replacement of equipment. Shop inspections of equipment occur during all stages of fabrication to ensure compliance with UOP Standard Specifications, customer requirements, engineering specifications, and all applicable industry codes. Each inspector writes their report using UOP’s computer-generated forms on a supplied laptop computer. Effective presentation of results to the customer at meetings is frequently required. This position requires extensive travel that includes locations throughout the world. Assignments generally last 1-6 weeks, with no return home during that time normally available. Work hours during an assignment are typically six days per week, 10 hours per day, but can be 12-hour days, seven days a week. Night shifts and holiday coverage are also a possibility.
