POSITION SUMMARY 

The position may vary by classroom, but you can expect to assist in activities planned by the Lead Teacher and run some "behind the scenes" activities that help the classroom run smoothly while the Lead Teacher plans, prepares, and executes lesson. Some important behind the scenes activities include preparing meals and snacks, cleaning up after meals and snacks, diaper changing or assisting in the bathroom, and cleaning the room at the end of the day to prepare for the next school day. Another important job of the Assistant Teacher is talking to parents at pick up to tell them how their child's day was and answer any classroom related questions they may have.

EXPECTATIONS

• Be ready to PLAY with the kids – You need to be attentive and engaged in the classroom, gym, and on the playground. On the playground and in the gym, you need to be up moving around, playing games, etc. not sitting. In the classroom engage with the kids while keeping an eye on the entire classroom.
• Be dependable – Show up on time daily.
• Be quick and efficient during tasks – Don’t let your phone or conversations distract you.
• Be confident when speaking to parents – YOU are responsible for their most prized possession, make them feel confident in you!
• Be professional – Appear well-groomed, have excellent communication, be respectful, honest, formal, and focused.
