JOB SUMMARY

Sasquatch Shaved Ice is a social enterprise snow cone stand offering supportive employment to low-income teens and young adults in Oklahoma City. The Sasquatch Shaved Ice Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing operations of the snow cone stands, mobile unit, and youth employment program. This includes helping promote and maintain high standards of speed, quality, and customer service standards at Sasquatch’s stationary stands and mobile van. The Sasquatch Shaved Ice Manager will work alongside the assistant manager in creating and managing employee schedules, answering and responding to customers, booking and running the mobile unit, coordinating and implementing job and life skills development curriculum, and generally supports the daily operations of Sasquatch Shaved Ice.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all employees exemplify superior customer service with speed, friendliness, and helpful attitudes.
  • Clean and maintain a healthy, safe, and sanitary work environment for customers and employees.
  • Help recruit, interview, hire, train, and evaluate new employees.
  • Schedule, supervise, coach, and delegate duties to employees.
  • Support daily operations and monitor production processes to ensure quality.
  • Regularly review employee performance considering product quality, speed, and customer service, providing feedback, support and corrective action plans when needed.
  • Enforce existing policies and work with the chief social enterprise officers to create new policies that will support future successful operations.
  • Respond to event inquiries, book the mobile unit for parties and special events, identify locations and opportunities to deploy the mobile unit. Maintain a detailed calendar for mobile unit events.
  • Drive the mobile unit (a large van) to events, stock, clean, and assist with vehicle maintenance.
  • Maintain high profit margins which entails setting sales goals and monitoring expenses, price changes, and waste management.
  • Manage snow cone supplies, including reviewing inventory, placing supply orders, purchasing, and restocking stands and mobile unit as needed.
  • Manage and assist in workshop including producing ice and sugar water, maintaining inventory, and restocking.
  • Assist Sasquatch employees in completing tasks including filling in shifts when needed.
  • Help conduct monthly enrichment programming for employees such as life-skills and financial literacy classes.
  • During the off season, help develop fall and winter products, book and operate the mobile unit at events, work in the stationary stands, research and identify opportunities for the following season, participate in program planning, and assist in other social enterprises as needed.
  • Assist with the stand’s marketing strategies and implementation, including but not limited to taking photos and assisting with content for social media, website, print advertising, and holiday campaigns.
  • Nurture a positive work environment.
  • Monitor employees’ progress and needs, addressing any immediate concerns and quickly communicating problems that arise to supervisor and case management partners.
  • Meet with employees on an individual basis regularly to provide ongoing feedback and support.
  • Conduct on-going assessment of the employees’ needs from a strength focused, solution-based perspective.
  • Help maintain proper records including properly submitting and storing employee files, purchase receipts, and other business- and program-related documents.
  • Assist employees in achieving their defined goals and advocate for needed services in meeting their obligations of employment. Track participants who have exited the program.
  • Transport employees as needed.
  • Establish and maintain close collaborative working relationships with community partners including, wholesale distributors, customers, and nonprofit partners.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Dedication to providing meaningful employment and job training to people living in poverty and transitioning out of homelessness.
  • Ability to work alongside individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities including physical and cognitive disabilities, substance abuse disorders, HIV/AIDS, mental illness, and other barriers and be able to develop rapport, provide oversight, and refer with sensitivity to cultural issues.
  • Patience and understanding working with people of different ability levels, experiences, and beliefs.
  • 40 hour work week with willingness to work additional hours as needed during busy periods.
  • Ability to meet a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends and available on-call for emergencies by phone. Willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate time during Sasquatch’s hours of operation.
  • Possess excellent time management skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong logic and decision-making skills with the ability to discern how to handle situations and when issues need to be elevated to supervisors.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and remain calm in demanding and unpredictable situations. Distinguish between the urgent and the important, and solve problems.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including a friendly personality and positive attitude. Must greet customers and respond to their questions and requests in a courteous, fast, friendly and helpful way.
  • Ability to drive a large vehicle including a Ram ProMaster 1500.
  • Strong writing, reading, listening and speaking communications skills.
  • Ability to set and observe appropriate boundaries.
  • Ability to excel in a diverse, collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to work and communicate with employees, staff, customers, donors, vendors, community agencies, etc. in a polite, courteous and cooperative manner, yet appropriately assertive as situations may demand.
  • Display a high level of initiative, effort and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently.
  • Ability to transport individuals as needed, and travel to various sites and locations daily.


EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of two years of experience in a related job
  • Management, employee training, and customer service experience required
  • Experience working with youth preferred
  • Computer literate; experienced with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Square, and Internet.
  • Valid Oklahoma driver’s license & proof of insurance
  • Food handlers permit or willingness to get one


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, reach, kneel and squat. Individual will be regularly exposed to wet and or humid conditions and must be able to lift/move weight up to 50lbs. Employee is also required to accept incoming calls and must be able to hear and speak effectively. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision adequate for the incumbent to perform the responsibilities and functions of the job efficiently. Must have the manual dexterity to manually operate and use a computer, cash register and automobile. Incumbent must be able to drive in all weather and road conditions. The noise level is quiet to moderate; non-smoking environment.
