JOB SUMMARY

Curbside Flowers is a social enterprise floral shop offering supportive employment to people transitioning out of homelessness in Oklahoma City. We are looking for an energetic and detail-oriented Wedding and Event Coordinator to manage the implementation and execution of floral for special events, weddings, and projects. This individual will provide on-the-job guidance and training for our florists, teaching arrangement designs and customer service etiquette. This position will ensure the quality and timeliness of production for wedding and event pieces. This position will also assist with the delivery and installation of weddings and events. The Wedding and Event Coordinator will provide support with the implementation of seasonal campaigns and special shop projects.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Exemplify superior customer service with a friendly, helpful, and courteous attitude to answer all questions customers may have about services.
  • Work closely with the Wedding and Event Planner to implement their floral design recipes.
  • Review the event schedule and develop plans to create all wedding and event floral products on time. This will require the ability to look at the big picture, break it down into steps, set goals, assign projects, and keep florists on task.
  • Oversee, train, and delegate duties to florists for wedding and event project implementation. Assist employees in completing these tasks with constructive feedback and a high standard of quality control. This position will require coaching, the ability to correct, and provide solutions.
  • Provide quality control and approval of final products.
  • Accomplish a variety of time-sensitive tasks on schedule and independently.
  • Receive shipments and unpack merchandise for weddings and events.
  • Process flowers.
  • Coordinate transportation of all florals, supplies, and equipment to the venue in a timely manner (if delivery is required). This will include driving a large delivery vehicle. Weekend and evening work will occasionally be required for wedding and event deliveries and installations. Striking an event/wedding will occasionally be required.
  • Communicate with other vendors such as wedding planners, venues, caterers, bakers, photographers, etc. to obtain information applicable to project implementation.
  • Learn how to use the following platforms for wedding and event implementation (including but not limited to): Honeybook, Shopify, Dropbox and Google Drive.
  • Assist with sales and inventory reports.
  • Help maintain close collaborative working relationships with community partners including, wholesale distributors, commercial clients, event coordinators and nonprofit partners.
  • Assist the Floral Manager with the shop’s marketing strategies by collecting photos of florists and products throughout project implementation and requesting that clients share their professional wedding/event photography with the shop for marketing purposes.
  • Assist with cleaning and maintaining floral equipment and the physical space at the flower shop.
  • Monitor employees’ progress and needs, addressing any immediate concerns and quickly communicating problems that arise to the Floral Manager and case management partners.
  • Assist employees in achieving employment success and advocate for needed services in meeting their obligations of employment.
  • Transport employees as needed.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of large holiday campaigns, including but not limited to Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Christmas.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND VALUES

  • Ability to work independently and complete required duties in a fast paced, high stress environment.
  • Previous floral experience with a knowledge of flowers, greens, supplies and arrangements.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including a friendly personality and positive attitude. Must greet guests and respond to their questions and requests in a courteous, fast, friendly, and helpful manner.
  • Ability to calculate cost and mark up for products.
  • Strong writing, reading, listening, and speaking communications skills.
  • Ability to set and observe appropriate boundaries.
  • Possess well-developed, decision-making skills, attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to multi-task and remain calm in demanding and unpredictable situations, distinguish between the urgent and the important, and solve problems.
  • Ability to work alongside individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities, including physical and cognitive disabilities, substance abuse disorders, HIV/AIDS, mental illness, and other barriers and be able to develop rapport, provide oversight, and refer with sensitivity to cultural issues.
  • Ability to work and communicate with employees, staff, customers, donors, vendors, community agencies, etc. in a polite, courteous, and cooperative manner, yet appropriately assertive as situations may demand.
  • Display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently.
  • Ability to transport individuals as needed, and travel to various sites and locations.
  • Able to meet a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends and available on-call for emergencies by telephone and/or cell phone.


EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE
AND LICENSES

  • Minimum of 2 years floral experience required
  • Computer literate; experienced with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Outlook, Internet, and Google Drive. Honeybook, Dropbox, and Shopify experience is a plus.
  • Valid Oklahoma driver’s license & proof of insurance
  • Floral design education or certification preferred


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as climb ladders, bend, reach, kneel and squat. Individual will be regularly exposed to wet and or humid conditions and must be able to lift/move weight up to 40 lbs. Employee is also required to accept incoming calls. Must have the manual dexterity to manually operate and use a computer, cash register, pruning sheers, wire cutters, and automobile. The noise level is quiet to moderate; non-smoking environment.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee will work in a retail, service-delivery environment. Hectic situations can occur in the public area of the facility characteristic to working with the homeless community and the related concerns and situations related to homeless conditions. Potential exists for volatile and unpredictable situations to occur.
