JOB SUMMARY

A program of the Homeless Alliance, Curbside Apparel is a social enterprise screen printing shop offering supportive employment and on the job training to people transitioning out of homelessness in Oklahoma City. The Curbside Apparel Account Representative is the primary contact for all customers. Duties include managing the sales process which includes initial consultation, project bids, design layout, scheduling, and invoicing. The Account Representative will be responsible for purchasing and managing inventory to execute jobs, developing a production schedule, and creating or editing design files for print.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Exemplify superior customer service with a friendly, helpful, and courteous attitude to answer all questions customers may have about services.
  • Conduct initial communication and consultations with customers to discuss their printing needs.
  • As needed, educate customers about the screen-printing process, help set realistic expectations for print jobs, and help develop alternative options if initial requests are not realistic.
  • Develop and maintain customer records and keep detailed customer notes for all print jobs.
  • Develop project estimates and provide bids and timelines to customers.
  • Edit or rebuild client design files or create new design files suitable for print production.
  • Work closely with the Production Specialist and Assistant Manager to schedule print jobs. Ensure projects are staying on schedule and remain in communication with customers.
  • Engage in ongoing, timely communication with customers until their project has reached completion, including a thank you message after completion.
  • Produce and send invoices to customers.
  • Order blank shirts, ink, emulsion, and other raw materials related to executing a print job. Remain within budget parameters to ensure profitability of all projects.
  • Receive shipments, unpack merchandise, and maintain inventory.
  • Arrange pick-up, shipping, or delivery with customers. Implement and oversee the shipping process.
  • Learn how to use the following platforms (including but not limited to): Honeybook, Shopify, Square, DropBox, and Google Drive. Experience with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Help maintain proper records including properly submitting and storing client files, purchase receipts, and other business and program-related documents. Assist with sales and inventory reports.
  • Help maintain collaborative working relationships with community partners including wholesale distributors, commercial customers, and nonprofit partners.
  • Assist with the shop’s marketing strategies by collecting photos of program participants and products throughout the production process.
  • May be asked to assist in the production process including operating the automatic or manual screen printing presses, screen production, heat pressing, and other processes related to the printing process.
  • Work alongside program participants demonstrating proper techniques, providing direction, and coaching people who are new to the production process and who have barriers to traditional employment. Monitor participants’ progress and needs, addressing any immediate concerns and quickly communicating problems to supervisors and case managers.
  • Support daily operations and monitor production processes to ensure quality and timeliness.
  • Nurture a positive work environment and demonstrate patience.
  • Transport program participants as needed.
  • Clean and maintain a healthy, safe, and sanitary work environment.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND VALUES

  • Dedication to providing meaningful employment and job training to people transitioning out of homelessness.
  • Ability to work alongside individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities, including physical and cognitive disabilities, substance abuse disorders, HIV/AIDS, mental illness, and other barriers and be able to develop rapport, provide oversight, and refer with sensitivity to cultural issues.
  • Patience and understanding working with people of different ability levels, experiences, and beliefs.
  • Time management in daily work and tasks as well as in both short and long-term projects. Ability to multi-task and oversee multiple projects and deadlines at once.
  • Attention to detail with a commitment to quality work and an ability to provide feedback on imperfections and coaching on how to improve them.
  • Strong logic and decision-making skills with the ability to discern how to handle situations and when issues need to be elevated to supervisors.
  • Ability to remain calm in a demanding environment with tight deadlines while overseeing multiple program participants.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including a friendly personality and positive attitude. Must greet customers and respond to their questions in a courteous, fast, friendly, and helpful manner.
  • Strong writing, reading, listening, and speaking skills.
  • Ability to set and observe appropriate boundaries.
  • Ability to excel in a diverse, collaborative team environment.
  • Display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently.
  • Normal operating hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with flexibility to accommodate busy periods on evenings or weekends.


EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE
AND LICENSES

  • Graphic design experience. Volunteer and personal work considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years customer service, sales, communication, marketing, or related experience.
  • Valid Oklahoma driver’s license & proof of insurance
  • Minimum of a High School diploma or GED required
  • Knowledgeable about the screen-printing process or willingness to learn
  • Computer literate; experienced with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Outlook, Internet. Experience with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Sitting or standing for long periods of time. Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and squat.
  • Must be able to lift/move weight up to 40 lbs.
  • Will be regularly exposed to inks, cleaners, and other screen-printing liquids.
  • Required to accept incoming calls, greet customers, and coach program participants.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision adequate to perform the responsibilities and functions of the printing job.
  • The noise level is quiet to moderate; non-smoking environment


WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee will work in a production shop. Hectic situations could occur characteristic to working with people experiencing homelessness and the concerns and situations related to homeless conditions. Potential exists for volatile and unpredictable situations to occur. Exposure to strong odors such as soiled clothes and poor hygiene, can happen.
