Home of the Innocents is Hiring a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Near Louisville, KY
The CNA works collaboratively with the Vice President of Nursing, Director of Nursing, Neighborhood Nurse Managers, Therapy and Resident Enrichment to ensure residents in the Kosair Charities Pediatric Convalescent Center receive the highest practicable quality of care that meets or exceeds federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements, and creates an environment in which children, families, and team members thrive.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide and document direct resident(s) care that is within the Certified Nursing Assistant scope of practice in collaboration with assigned team members; including but not limited to mobility/transfers, feeding and personal care to ensure resident needs are met.
- Engage and interact with resident(s) appropriately based on age and diagnoses to develop therapeutic relationship with resident.
- Perform other job duties as assigned including resident enrichment activities and management and cleanliness of neighborhood and resident environment.
- Participate and assist with on onsite and off site activities and appointments which can include physically assisting with resident mobility and transfers.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- Must possess and be willing to use good judgment, clinical, and communication skills to provide the highest level of quality resident care possible.
- Must function independently with minimal oversight and with flexibility, personal integrity and compassion while providing care to individuals from diverse backgrounds with varied functional abilities.
- Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel from the nursing department and from other departments.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Current State Registered Nurse Aide certification (Certified Nurse Aide) in good standing with the Kentucky Board of Nursing / State Nurse Aide Registry is preferred but not required.
- Current CPR / Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification is required and provided.
- Prolonged periods of standing and frequent movement.
- Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 35 lbs up to 65 lbs unassisted, from the floor using proper body mechanics
- Must be able to read, write and communicate in the English language
- Must be able to physically attend and participate in continuing education and training.
- Exposure to blood, bodily fluids, infectious disease, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals is possible.
