Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course is Hiring a Prep Cook Near Grantville, PA

Your daily responsibilities include

  • Prepare and display/plate foods as venue requires including banquets, receptions, buffets, a la carte in order to assist in reaching profitability, guest satisfaction, workforce strength, and compliance goals.
  • Report to Sous Chef at start of shift to receive instruction as to daily specials and menu changes.
  • Set up mise en place as per posted instructions.
  • Report any spoilage or shortage to Sous Chef immediately.
  • Prepare recipe per standardized recipes and production sheets.
  • Prepare plated menu items as ordered, per specifications on hot food production line with strict attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
  • Must have knowledge of soups, sauces, quantity cooking, and proper food sanitation and handling.
  • Perform well under pressure, meeting production schedules and fulfilling requisitions in a timely manner.
  • Maintain work station and all storage areas in accordance with HCPN Standards and PA Department of Health Standards.
  • Assist in other areas of the kitchen as instructed by Sous Chef.
  • Complete assigned shift by properly storing all perishable foods and reporting to Sous Chef for closing details.
  • Maintain a consistent and regular attendance record.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Culinary degree preferred, or 3 to 5 years of previous relevant experience required. - Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules and operating and maintenance instructions. - Must have the ability to present information and respond to questions from employees.
  • Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret various metrics.
  • Must have the ability to perform basic math skills.
  • Must have the ability to identify problems, collect data, analyze, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
  • Must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions (i.e., written, oral, etc.).
  • Must qualify for a license with the Pennsylvania State Racing Commission and meet any credentialing requirements of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
