BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

• Minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent
• CPR training and certification

SKILLS:

• Excellent communication skills with residents, staff, families and the public
• Ability to anticipate the needs and moods of residents and interact with residents under all conditions
• Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position

EXPERIENCE:

• 5 years driving experience with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Understanding of state and federal healthcare laws and regulations

STANDARD REQUIREMENTS:

• A driving abstract is required from the Motor Vehicle Commission
• Support the Mission, Values and Vision of the Holland Christian Home
• Understand and honor the Christian principles of the organization
• Demonstrate an understanding of the Residential Living principles, including resident choice, privacy, independence, and dignity in all interactions with residents
• Demonstrate an understanding of the aging process, cognitive impairments, Alzheimer’s and other dementias
• Ensure all assigned user ID codes and passwords for accessing resident / facility information are kept confidential; ensure the departmental computer workstations left unattended are properly logged off or the password protected automatic screen-saver activates within established facility policy guidelines
• Report known or suspected incidents of fraud to the Administrator
• Report any known or suspected unauthorized attempt to access facility’s information system

• Maintain HIPAA compliance as well as confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee and operations data
• Exhibit concern for safety and well-being of staff, residents, families, and visitors

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Drive residents to medical appointments, using Holland Christian Home vehicles as assigned

• Maintain proper safety standards
• Wear a seat belt and assist Residents with seatbelts, which must be worn at all times
• Make sure Sure-lock tie downs are securely fastened for all wheelchairs in accordance with van manual
• Use appropriate and safe body technique when lifting and/or transferring residents or supplies
• Operate chair lift in accordance with van manual
• Use mechanical equipment and assistive devices for patient handling tasks as identified, according to the individual resident Care Plan and the Safe Patient Handling Act.
• Carry a cell phone at all times
• Keep transport vehicles well maintained and cleaned once a week, including gas and any necessary checkups/inspections
• Attend yearly in-service regarding safe driving and proper use of safety mechanisms.
• Assist Administration, staff and residents with trips to the bank, post office, etc.

OTHER DUTIES:

• Timely completion of all required in-services
• Must be present for at least one mandatory annual fire drill
• Must participate in annual N95 Fit Testing

• All other responsibilities that may be necessary to fulfill the duties associated with the position or as may be assigned

HOURS OF WORK:

• As per department schedule

Current drivers license in good standing
