Certified Medication Technician currently certified in the State of New Jersey
CPR Certification

EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience in a geriatric setting preferred
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Understanding of state and federal healthcare laws and regulations
Demonstrate required clinical skill
Provide professional care to residents
Perform professional duties as determined by qualifications and training

Demonstrate an understanding of the aging process, cognitive impairments, Alzheimer's and other dementias
Ensure all assigned user ID codes and passwords for accessing resident / facility information are kept confidential; ensure the departmental computer workstations left unattended are properly logged off or the password protected automatic screen-saver activates within established facility policy guidelines
Report known or suspected incidents of fraud to the Administrator
Report any known or suspected unauthorized attempt to access facility's information system
Maintain HIPAA compliance as well as confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee and operations data
Exhibit concern for safety and well-being of staff, residents, families, and visitors
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Administer medications accurately and in accordance with physician orders, regulations and facility policy
Notify nurse on duty when any medication is not given as ordered
Monitor residents for any adverse reactions to medications
Document accurately according to facility policy
Collaborate with nursing and healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care
Report changes in Resident status, behaviors and other concerns promptly to nurse on duty
Document on Mar in timely and legible manner
Receive/transfer oral and written reports at change of shift
Provide assistance with dressing and/or appropriate clothing selection
Maintain an awareness of resident care plans and follow through by implementing care need changes promptly
Demonstrate an understanding of Residential Living principles including Resident choice, privacy, independence, dignity in all interactions with Residents.
Supervise and demonstrate pro-active care for residents on a daily basis
Assist residents with ambulation, as needed; advise nurse of concerns
Ensure that all care is provided in privacy and in a sensitive and respectful manner
Provide assistance with showering and sponge bathing
Go out of way to make conversation with residents and to promote sense of home and community
Provide assistance with oral hygiene, shaving, hair care and make up
Assist with meal service, maintaining awareness of residents' special diets/needs and assist as needed with dining
Observe and report presence of bruises, skin tears, pressure areas and/or skin breakdown
Provide assistance with toileting assuring resident is comfortable and dry
Be aware/responsive to residents with special needs
Demonstrate proper hand washing techniques
Demonstrate knowledge/use of standard precautions
Answer call bells promptly and courteously
Demonstrate understanding of how to approach, interact and respond to memory impaired residents
Demonstrate ability to deal positively with cognitively impaired residents
Transport residents within facility as needed
Perform minor housekeeping tasks necessary to maintain orderly/neat appearance of the facility
Assist Activity staff with daily activities (help transport and/or encourage attendance, active assist when assigned)
OTHER DUTIES:
Timely completion of all required in-services
Must be present for at least one mandatory annual fire drill
Must participate in annual N95 Fit Testing
All other responsibilities that may be necessary to fulfill the duties associated with the position or as may be assigned
HOURS OF WORK:
As per department schedule
Every other weekend (required)
