ABOUT THE ROLE

This position will split time between working in the field at construction sites and in a quality control lab. Performs quality control tests for the specific product line in accordance with established local or national standards. Provides verbal and/or written test results to management and production staff in a timely manner. Assists manager with customer service issues as directed. Assists in mix design development. Certifies results of laboratory findings.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Examines laboratory and/or core samples to determine their physical and chemical properties.
• Act as onsite representative during concrete pours at job sites.
• Uses a variety of instruments and calculations to determine conformity. Performs various tests to make certain that samples meet required standards.
• Records, analyzes, certifies and prepares summaries of findings.
• Maintains records of test results using various databases.
• May design mixes to be used at various plants based on materials used at each site.
• Assists with customer service issues as required.
• Troubleshoots to determine reason for problem or complaint.
• Collects samples from various plants as required.
• Provides leadership and/or guidance to less experienced Tech QC and/or Inspectors on more complex assignments.
• Coordinates work to ensure that repairs are completed in a timely manner and according in order of priority.
• May train new employees.
• Other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Required Education: High School diploma/GED

Required Work Experience: 1-3 years

• High school diploma or GED
• Two years of post-secondary technical education or equivalent in experience preferred.
• Prior construction or concrete experience is ideal.
• At least two years of experience as materials Q.C. Technician preferred.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rates, rations and percentages.
• State regulated or industry certifications, such as MNDOT Tech Certificate, as required
• Availability and willingness to work flexible hours including some nights and weekends to meet customer needs.

• Educates customers in proper application of all Holcim products.
• Job coordinator for on-site quality control work as needed.
• Assist salesmen, and managers as required.
• Customer service with regards to testing and product information.
• Completion of testing in a timely manner.
• Responsible for own ongoing maintenance, calibration and calibration documentation of testing equipment.
• Build effective relationships with all business stakeholders.
• Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.
• Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
