This position will work on various projects throughout the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area.

About the position
The Power Quality Technician (Journeyman Electrician) is responsible for performing testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical distribution components and systems. The Power Quality Technician will have the unique opportunity to grow their expertise in the highly technical aspects of the electrical service and construction industry. In this role, you will gain valuable experience through involvement in a wide range of projects in a variety of sectors including data centers, hospitals, industrial facilities, and commercial buildings. Applicants must possess a strong technical aptitude and be driven by the desire to learn and to problem-solve.
Day in the life

• Identifying, diagnosing, and correcting issues with electrical distribution components and systems
• Understanding detailed requirements of electrical installations by interpreting diagrams, plans, specifications, and manuals
• Using basic electrical test equipment including digital multi-meter, phase rotation meter, insulation resistance meter, and micro-ohm meter
• Using advanced electrical test equipment including a power quality meter, infrared camera, primary injection circuit breaker tester, relay test system, VLF / tan delta cable tester, and transformer turns ratio meter
• Testing panel/switchboards, MCCs, switchgear, circuit breakers, relays, low and medium voltage cables, transformers, ATSs, UPSs, and instrumentation using the test equipment listed above
• Documenting test results and creating reports using computer software - PowerDB
• Exercising knowledge of fundamental electrical concepts and industry best practices
• Staying familiar with applicable codes and standards including NFPA 70, 70B, 70E, 99, and NETA

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid State of Minnesota journeyman electrical license
• Minimum of 1 year of experience with electrical relay and breaker testing, maintenance, and/or troubleshooting
• Periods of travel required
