POSITION SUMMARY

The Bartender ensures that all guests are provided with exceptional service and Southern hospitality, while participating in team work and ongoing sidework according to standard of Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que. The Bartender has extensive knowledge in all aspects of the food and drink menu and is able to assist guests with menu and drink selections. The Bartender must be able to prepare alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages to Lucille’s recipe specifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provides friendly and helpful service to all guests
• Prepares all drinks following recipes
• Opens, maintains cleanliness of, and closes bar on a daily basis
• Has extensive beer, wine, and liquor knowledge
• Memorizes, recites and promotes all menu items
• Performs all steps of service
• Follows cash handling policies
• Performs opening, on-going, and closing sidework duties
• Follows and understands all company procedures and policies

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed
• Continuous use of hands and arms
• Ability to be on your feet for an extended period of time
• Continuous reaching, bending, stooping, lifting, shaking, stirring, pouring, and carrying and abrupt stopping.
• Ability to work in heated or cooled temperatures for prolonged periods of time.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

• One year experience at a full service, high volume, casual dining restaurant is preferred
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to speak, read, and write English
• Basic math skills
• Basic computer skills; able to use and understand the restaurant’s POS system
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work effectively with a team
• Ability to maintain an upbeat, outgoing and positive demeanor
• Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
• Ability to absorb and retain information quickly
• Ability to handle cash
• Ability to work quickly in a confined area for an extended period of time.
