About this Position

HOERBIGER Rotary Solutions, Deublin Company, is seeking a Global Sanctions and Export Manager (GS&EM) to maintain the Company's export compliance program ensuring ITAR, OFAC and BIS regulations are followed. This position is essential to advise the company on navigating complex global trade landscapes while minimizing legal risks and ensuring ethical business conduct. The GS&EM will work closely with cross-functional teams within the organization to develop and implement effective sanctions compliance strategies.

This position is located at our Waukegan location and works in the office four days per week with one day per week remote. Position requires 10%-20% both domestic and international.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance: Interpret and communicate regulatory requirements to relevant stakeholders within the organization.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments; develop and implement mitigation strategies to address identified risks.
  • Policy Development: Develop, implement, and enforce effective end use, end user and denied party screening. Ensure that policies are aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Screening Software Evaluation & Implementation: Evaluate appropriate export control & sanctions screening software tools and lead the project of implementation the selected software.
  • Training and Awareness: Develop training programs to educate employees on sanctions and export compliance requirements. Conduct training sessions and provide ongoing support.
  • Transaction Screening: Oversee the screening of transactions, customers, and business partners against relevant sanctions lists and export control regulations. Implement automated screening processes where applicable and conduct manual reviews as necessary.
  • Due Diligence: Review contracts and conduct due diligence on customers, suppliers, and business partners to assess their compliance with sanctions and export control regulations. Evaluate potential risks associated with engaging in business transactions with specific entities or countries.
  • Reporting and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of compliance activities. Prepare reports for senior management and regulatory authorities. Ensure customer service and purchasing are maintaining required documentation with each foreign transaction.
  • Investigations and Remediation: Lead investigations into suspected violations of sanctions and export control regulations. Develop remediation plans and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences. Assist management with voluntary disclosure when required.
  • External Engagement: Represent the company in interactions with government agencies, industry associations, and other external stakeholders. Monitor regulatory developments and participate in industry forums. Represent Deublin on discussions with Regulators, Bank Partners, and Auditors.
  • Drive environmental and sustainability initiatives, ensuring practices align with both customer demands and global ecological imperatives.
Qualifications
  • Minimum ten years’ experience in global trade compliance with a focus on US sanctions and export controls.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks, including OFAC regulations, BIS, ITAR, and other applicable trade laws.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, international relations, law, or a related field required.
  • Advanced degree or professional certification in compliance or trade law preferred. US Customs Broker License preferred (is a plus).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them to real-world scenarios.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment and influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.
  • High level of integrity and ethical conduct, with a commitment to upholding compliance standards and promoting a culture of ethics and integrity within the organization.
  • Willing and physically able to travel (fly/drive) both domestic and international up to 20% of time.
