This opportunity entails being responsible for serving as the lead project architect on one or more projects. Serves as a resource to the project designer and project manager as the design is developed. Acts as a liaison between HTNB and the client on technical aspects of the project.
What You'll Do:
Develops and presents lead technical viewpoint on all projects and ensures HNTB systems are used to deliver the design in a standardized manner. Ensures that a technical solution, consistent with the program and design is properly developed and produced.
Works closely with the project designer and manager in planning and implementing all work processes. Develops and implements internal controls for all team members assigned to a project. Monitors and supervises development of contract documents.
Has overall responsibility for coordination with sub-consultants in implementation of quality assurance and quality control checks. Reviews and supervises work of less experienced architects. Responsible for all project work planning and scheduling. May act in a team lead capacity in the absence of the manager.
Serves as subject matter expert on architectural projects of the largest size.
Assists with the promotion, discipline, performance review, work allocation, training and mentoring of staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor's degree in Architecture
7 years related experience

Primary Focus will Include:
Coordination of architectural/engineering project team to prepare contract documents.
Participates in communication with the PM, project team, clients, contractors, and consultant teams regarding various technical aspects of the project.
Analyzes design and construction systems, design layouts, and construction features.
Expert knowledge of building codes, accessibility guidelines, building construction, and building systems integration. Ability to research and apply/incorporate into construction documents.
Ensures compliance with standards, established architectural practices, applicable codes and technical adequacy of design and construction.
Support senior leadership in the preparation, review, and coordination of construction documents prior to issue, including verifying project conforms with client’s scope, budget, and schedule.
Collaborates with senior project leadership during the construction administration phase, to attend on-site field visits, conduct field reviews, attend contractor meetings, respond to RFIs, evaluate change orders, review shop drawings, and perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Transit and/or Aviation Architecture Design experience preferred
Minimum of 12 years of experience as a senior project architect
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite are required
Experience in Rhino, 3-D Max, Sketch-up is a plus and LEED Accreditation is also a plus
Demonstrated technical ability and leadership skills required
Clear communication skills, including presentation skills
Patience and ability to mentor and develop others

The approximate pay range for New York is $88,704.95 - $173,429.55. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
