This opportunity entails being under general supervision, preparing preliminary cost estimates for more complex projects. Accurately projecting the cost of upcoming projects and provides information by developing the cost estimate that builds up the estimated cost of a defined scope of work at any stage of project definition. Responsible for conceptual, definitive, man-hour, and equipment factored total installed cost estimates. Duties may also include preparing economic cost studies, cash flows, and contingency analyses.
What You’ll Do:
Analyzes bid and design documents to perform detailed quantity takeoffs to support labor, equipment, and material cost development.
Performs detailed cost estimates by means of operational analysis utilizing past work experience and reputable industry publications for productivity assignment and overall cost development. Develops / builds the direct and indirect estimates in estimating software with guidance. Prepares detailed breakdown of components and elements of estimates.
Revises estimates and reports to management accordingly.
Provides support in price negotiations. Obtains cost information for materials, equipment, and services.
Performs related cost estimating and budgeting functions. Performs conceptual estimating.
Collaborates with scheduling team to develop productivity-based cost estimates and to ensure alignment of estimates to construction schedules.
Reviews contractual documents and contract modifications to determine scope of work, changes to scope, and cost estimates of scope changes.
Assists in preparation of independent cost estimates for submitted change order proposals.
Supports the review of estimates and proposals developed by third parties, including consultants’ estimates and contractors’ proposals.
What You’ll Need:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related degree and 3 years relevant experience, or
In lieu of education, 7 years relevant experience with the development of cost estimates
