Job Summary
We are searching for a Lab Technical Coordinator - Blood bank/ Coagulation-- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide effective guidance and operation of the laboratory in compliance with departmental and institutional goals. This role also coordinates technical procedures to ensure that high quality laboratory services and testing are provided to patients in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities
* In conjunction with the manager and medical directors, develops new methodologies and procedures, coordinates the performance of method evaluations to include technical performance ease of use/performance, quality control, maintenance; collate evaluation data for review, and make recommendations for implementation
* Attends meetings, participates on work teams, focus groups for new initiatives or projects as needed
* Assists in reviewing proficiency testing results. Works with the manager to resolve technical and performance issues identified by proficiency testing results
* In conjunction with the manager ensures that QA review adequately delineates the cause of errors and events attributed to lack of understanding or technical knowledge, poorly defined policies, and procedures, etc.
* Maintains integrity of system, file maintenance, report, label, and collection list printing as related to assignments and requirements for section/shift
* Coordinates and facilitates continuing education events for the staff
* Documents staff participation and outcomes from all training and competency assessment. Follows up on training and competency failures and evidence effective remediation
* Monitors supply expenses and usage of consumables to stay within budget
* Maintains cost analysis data for Hematology and tests; performs annual review of cost accounting data and makes changes as needed
Qualifications
Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children's, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption
* Bachelor's degree required
* BB-ASCP, C-ASCP, CG-ASCP, CLSP-NCA, H-ASCP, HLT, M-ASCP, MB-ASCP, MLS-ASCP, MP-ASCP, MT-AMT, MT-ASCP, MT-STATE, SBB-ASCP, or SC-ASCP certification required
* PhD in lieu of certification is acceptable
* 4 years' experience in a laboratory setting in Blood Bank/Coagulation
