WORK STYLE DESIGNATION: Hybrid ( 50% Remote)
WORK STYLE REQUIREMENT: Onsite - 80% / Remote - 20%
WORK LOCATION: NCP (Hillsboro, OR)
EXPECTED PAY RANGE: $84,951 - $157,697 Annually

This pay range is for the position's base salary only. This position may be eligible for other compensation including incentive pay and/or allowances. Candidates will receive additional information during the interview and selection process.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage all aspects of team operations and resources. Establishes strategic goals by gathering pertinent business and operational information, identifying trends and options, defining objectives, choosing a course of action, and evaluating outcomes. Maintains service standards by analyzing and resolving problems, identifying trends, and recommending system improvements.
  • May be responsible for managing financial objectives by forecasting requirements, budgeting, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training new employees. Manage staff according to company policies and procedures and business expectations while maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment. Develop personal growth opportunities for employees.
  • Coordinates the scheduling and staffing of team resources, i.e., time off requests, payroll, etc., ensuring that the lab is staffed properly to fulfill work requirements. Communicates and presents these plans to the senior management team.
  • Implement and oversee performance reviews.
  • Communicate regularly to staff regarding the company’s plans and how their work fits into corporate and SED goals and objectives.
  • Effectively lead a team and provide leadership, guidance, and direction as the Manager.
  • Plan, coordinate, lead and/or attend meetings related to team operations.
  • Research, create and submit purchase orders for materials and services maintaining accuracy and conformance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by establishing personal networks, benchmarking state of the art processes, participating in professional societies, and keeps abreast of industry trends and market conditions by continuing education, attending seminars, and reading industry-related publications.
  • Develops and implements operational metrics and reporting to evaluate team effectiveness.
  • Establishes operational objectives and delegates assignments to subordinates.
  • Oversee and drive to completion special projects and assigned tasks with very minimum supervision.
  • Use analytical lab equipment to prepare samples for analysis. Perform necessary sample preparation techniques to enable subsequent analyses to be conducted including trimming and orienting semiconductor wafer samples using various cleaving techniques, laser marking, ion milling, and coating of samples.
  • Conduct characterization jobs using defined and documented procedures and protocols, meeting or exceeding cycle time and quality standard expectations. Assure smooth operation by minimizing stand-by and idle times. Typical job flow requires: Communication with engineering community and/or manager about incoming requests and priority; critically evaluate requests, prepare samples, and follow up with microscopy team to ensure excellent data quality to our customer.
  • Organize data and prepare summary reports. Use standard software applications for analytical job management & result reporting.
  • Will support other requests provided by management.
  • Effectively work with other team members and communicate with engineers on analysis results. Work collaboratively with internal and external customers to meet requirements and deadlines.
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance activities of equipment and support troubleshooting or maintenance activities with vendors and field service engineers as needed. Acquire data to ensure proper functioning/calibration of tools. May be required to assist in coordinating new tool installations.

EDUCATION, LICENSES, AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • (Supervisor) BS Degree in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • (Manager) BS, MS, or PhD Degree in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent combination of education and work experience with various laboratory and semiconductor analysis equipment.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • (Supervisor) Three (3) years of experience working with various Ion Beam, Electron Microscopes, and other equipment to prepare samples and perform imaging analysis
  • (Manager) PhD with 3 years; or MS with 6 years; or BS with 8 years of lab experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience with various semiconductor analysis instruments.
  • Previous experience with managing direct reports is required.
  • Experience using FIB-SEM and/or S/TEM is required.
  • Experience in a high-volume lab or environments like QA, FA, fab, etc. required.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor devices is required.
  • Minimum travel required (<5%).

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently.
  • Must possess strong technical skills and knowledge of the procedures and techniques used in a laboratory. Understanding and operation of the common failure analysis tools like SEM, FIB, S/TEM, EELS, and EDX.
  • Ability to effectively lead a team by providing leadership, coaching and guidance to employees and support business objectives and results.
  • Perform tasks requiring a high degree of manual dexterity. Ability to operate and maintain all lab equipment to collect, process, and catalogue analysis results.
  • Strongly driven and self-motivated, and ability to focus on both accuracy as well as output in a complex work environment. Demonstrate tolerance of ambiguity, flexibility to adapt to new situations, be dependable and independent, as well as work within a team and support each other.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively and professionally interact with internal customers, external customers, and vendors. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and other employees. Excellent teamwork and communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrate strong work ethic. (On time to work and training, on time completion of assignments, strong preparation for assignments, effective teamwork, etc.).
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate information to vendors, customers, and manager regarding lab issues, activities, and schedules.
  • Ability to adapt to new procedures concerning work in the facility. Create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Ability to work overtime, shift work, and/or flexible schedule as needed.
  • Understand and follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures and requirements.
  • Perform all responsibilities in a safe manner, protecting self as well as others.
  • Portray professionalism and pride in appearance while conforming to policy.
  • Have a positive attitude to all employees and customers.
  • Comply and adhere to company policies.
