HistoryIT is Hiring an Archive Manager Near South Portland, ME

HistoryIT is seeking to hire a full-time Archive Manager. The primary role of the Archive Manager will be to oversee HistoryIT archives. This role will be responsible for inventorying, organizing, rehousing, and tracking physical materials, as well as comparing the physical archive to digital archive files.

This job will be performed onsite in South Portland, Maine.

Archive Manager

Job Title: Archive Manager Department: Project Management

Reports to: Director of History Projects

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Primary duty is reorganizing and rehousing physical collections.
  • Implement Policies and best practices related to archival processing workflows.
  • Coordinates the transfer of records between HistoryIT facilities.
  • Coordinates the transfer of records between HistoryIT and client locations.
  • Manage, monitors, and audits systems and processes to ensure accurate collection of incoming archival materials.
  • Oversees the monitoring of archives and collections email addresses to fulfill requests for assets and information, field inquiries, and process standard deposit and licensing agreements.
  • Develops, arranges and describes archival collections in accordance with accepted standards and practices.
  • Interacts with clients of archival collections both internal and external to the organization.
  • Maintains and updates archival database
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Supervises archival assistants, creating assignments and providing feedback and mentoring to team members.

  • An interest in history and the management of information.
  • Knowledge of archival theory and practice, as well as current metadata and descriptive standards.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of archival experience desired
  • B.A. or advanced degree in library science and/or related field knowledge of best practices and archival standards
  • Experience in archival digitization technologies and digital asset management

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Sitting, standing, bending over, kneeling, and lifting or moving objects up to 50 lbs
  • Climbing stairs/ladder in a warehouse setting

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00 - $72,500.00 per year
