Now, About This Job

As the lead person for our fundraising team, we are seeking an outgoing individual with high energy and a passion for HUF’s mission. The Director of Development will focus on establishing and deepening government, foundation, corporate, and individual donor relationships, which leads to the renewal and/or growth of these partnerships. This runs the gamut of development activities such as research, pitching, creating development opportunities, saying “thank you,” and tracking all development activities. Through research, cultivation, and stewardship, this individual will provide extraordinary service to donors and funders and manage related internal processes, such as grants and fulfillment to the highest standards of excellence.

The Director of Development reports to the President/CEO and will effectively execute all fundraising and development activities, manage three (3) direct reports, and work in collaboration with existing and new donors, external fundraising consultants, and vendors. It is expected that the amount raised by HUF will increase in future years as the Director systematically and effectively strengthens the organization's overall fundraising capacity. Qualifications:

  • Please Note: Fluency in Spanish is NOT required.
  • Proven track record of achieving fundraising targets of $1.5M annually.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience; master’s preferred.
  • 5 years of professional experience in a nonprofit organization, including demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources); CFRE credential preferred.
  • Highly proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, and Outlook, Expertise/experience with virtual meeting platforms, Constant Contact, and knowledge of fundraising and donor management program(s) is required.
  • Supervisory experience is essential.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and appropriate motor vehicle insurance.
  • Must be comfortable working onsite at the HUF office and frequently off-site with funders and donors.
  • Must live within the South Florida area (metro Broward or Miami Dade).
  • Must be able to pass a Level 2 Background Check.

This is a full-time, exempt position based in Hollywood, Florida with a salary range of $95,000-$105,000/year. A generous benefits package includes health insurance, vacation, sick, personal time, and paid holidays. The expected start for this role is in April 2024.
