Hiro Systems PBC is Hiring a Remote Product Designer

At Hiro, we build developer tools that bring Web3 to Bitcoin. Our suite of tools unlocks the full potential of Bitcoin through smart contracts, digital assets, and decentralized applications. With Hiro tools, developers can test and deploy smart contracts, spin up nodes and other server-side resources for scaling, and more. Building on Bitcoin is hard. Hiro's developer tools make it easier. We’re very proud to say that Hiro won 4 Built In’s Best Places to Work awards, including U.S. Best Startups to Work For, Remote Best Startups to Work For, Remote Best Places to Work, and New York Best Startups to Work For!

Hiro is funded and backed by more than $75 million from Union Square Ventures, Y Combinator, Lux Capital, Winklevoss Capital, Naval Ravikant, and others.

About the Opportunity

We’re looking for a Product Designer to join our remote-first team here at Hiro and help us design our hosted development experience, the Hiro Platform. This role will be critical in ensuring developers can build and scale applications built with the Stacks blockchain. The ideal candidate has a background working on developer-focused products in either the tech or crypto industry. You will be responsible for leading the design efforts for the Product team at Hiro, as well as contributing to the design culture across the company.

What you'll do

  • Work closely with the Design Lead to maintain and evolve Hiro’s design, ensuring quality and consistency across product and brand.

  • Work closely with the Product Manager on continuous product discovery, experimentation, and problem-solving.

  • Work closely with the team’s Engineering Manager and Engineers to understand technical possibilities and constraints, and to ensure a smooth design handoff.

  • Collaborate with the team and company at large during both research and integration phases, incorporating various points of view and incorporating stakeholder needs

What we’re looking for

  • 7 years crafting high-quality UX and UI for early- or growth-stage startups in a lead or senior role

  • Demonstrable experience with repeatedly and singlehandedly executing the product design process from start to finish

  • Extensive experience working on consumer or technical apps with a strong sense of both visual aesthetics and usability

  • Familiarity with the developer mindset as well as comfort with reading through technical materials and participating in technical conversations

  • Experience working with front-end engineers and preparing ‘ready for implementation’ designs

  • Experience working with GitHub for project management

What we’d like to see

  • 5 years of regular experience with Figma or equivalent collaborative-design application

  • 3 years of experience with usertesting.com or similar user-testing service

  • Experience building design systems

We’d love to hear from you even if you don’t have experience or interest in every bullet. There’s no perfect candidate and we want to find the right fit, even if it’s different than we imagine. We especially would like to meet underrepresented/underestimated candidates.

What We'll Offer:

  • Salary Range (regardless of location, benchmarked annually) $155,000 - $180,000.

  • Company equity and Stacks (STX) tokens--STX is the native cryptocurrency of the Stacks network

  • $1,200/yr budget for learning and development stipend

  • $1000/yr of charity donation matching to an organization of your choosing

  • $500/mo co-working space reimbursement

  • Daily Lunch Reimbursement (even if you’re remote!)

  • Open Vacation Policy, take the days you need

  • Family-Friendly Health Benefits

  • Free Life and Disability Insurance

  • Health and Dependent Care (FSA)

  • Up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave

  • 401k with 3% match

Please note that benefits vary by country, the ones shown above are for our full time U.S. based employees. Benefit information for non-US based positions will be provided to individuals who interview for those roles.

Hiro is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and deeply cares about building a diverse team. Hiro is committed to building an inclusive environment for people of all backgrounds. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, religion, disability, national origin, protected veteran status, age, or any other status protected by law.
