As the Assistant Superintendent, you'll work under the guidance of an on-site lead superintendent, providing crucial support in overseeing field administration, supervision, and technical management for construction operations across projects of varying size and complexity. Collaborating closely with Armada Hoffler staff, foremen, subcontractors, and other construction personnel, you'll play a key role in ensuring projects are executed efficiently, meeting quality, budget, and safety standards.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor and document field variations, communicating changes to the Project Superintendent.
  • Assist in ensuring subcontractors understand and meet job schedules by providing clear direction.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of project plans, specifications, and related documents, flagging any issues or non-compliance.
  • Support quality control efforts, minimizing rework by consistently evaluating the quality of work.
  • Assist in assessing manpower requirements and coordinating timely material deliveries.
  • Contribute to developing and maintaining project schedules, communicating updates to subcontractors and vendors.
  • Coordinate work among trades and provide supervision as directed by the lead superintendent.
  • Assist in coordinating material deliveries and equipment movement to facilitate safe and efficient work.
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety protocols and regulations, fostering a culture of safety.
  • Assist in holding subcontractors accountable to performance standards, driving adherence to requirements.
  • Manage coordination with authorities having jurisdiction and oversee special inspections.
  • Maintain positive relationships with project stakeholders.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by supervising management.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-5 years' experience in commercial construction on large-scale projects.
  • Familiarity with construction site logistics planning, safety monitoring, quality control, and project scheduling.
  • Experience with multifamily or sizable ground-up commercial construction projects preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction processes and best practices.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite; experience with scheduling software a plus.
  • OSHA 30 Certification required.
  • Willingness to travel and stay on out-of-town projects.
  • Commitment to integrity, honesty, and ethical conduct.
Physical Demands And Work Environment
  • Exposure to various hazards on construction sites.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including climbing stairs and lifting up to 75 pounds.
  • Compliance with pre-employment screenings.
