Staff Accountant

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join the team. The Staff Accountant will be primarily responsible for preparing and maintaining financial records to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. The ideal candidate should be a self-starting professional who is comfortable using analytics.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update accounting records and files to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Assist the Budget Director in the development and submission of the annual budget process.
  • Conduct month-end reconciliation/budget performance reports between approved budgets and actual expenditures with all university budgets to ensure that expenditures are held within approved budget limits.
  • Assist the Budget Director in developing budgetary policies and guidelines to ensure compliance with rules and regulations and to meet the organization's short and long-term goals.
  • Process approved budget transfers, mid-year budget adjustments, and reports as required.
  • Support the Budget Director with individual and organizational-wide training and budget meetings by working with department leaders to discuss operational budgetary issues, provide resources and requirements for annual budget submissions.
  • Assist the Director in daily analytics of the organizations cash flow.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws related to accounting and finance.
