Heavy Equipment Operator - Veteran Wanted - FL

We are currently seeking a motivated veteran to join our team as a Heavy Equipment Operator in FL. As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will play a crucial role in safely and efficiently operating heavy machinery, such as dozers and loaders, to move materials and support our production operations. Your expertise and dedication will contribute to maintaining a smooth and productive workflow.

Position: Heavy Equipment Operator

Location: FL

Salary Range: $36,000 - $46,000

Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy equipment, including dozers and loaders, to move materials effectively and safely.
  • Safely drive and maneuver vehicles into position for loading and dumping materials.
  • Assist in stockpiling materials at the plant and Raw Material Storage (RMS) building, as well as hauling other materials as required.
  • Inspect the mechanisms of vehicles, monitor fluid levels, and maintain equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Assist mechanics with minor service and repair tasks on equipment as needed.
  • Operate and load equipment proficiently, safely, and responsibly to facilitate the movement of raw materials around the plant for production, adhering to all safety rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of competency, skill, and proficiency in operating equipment.
  • Perform greasing, oiling, and minor repairs on equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections, visually inspect and test machinery and equipment.
  • Remove build-up from under or around quarry crushers, beltlines, and reclaimers to maintain efficiency.
  • Organize and plan daily maintenance activities and prepare for scheduled maintenance tasks.
  • Follow all plant safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Follow established traffic patterns, avoiding road hazards and other potentially dangerous conditions.
  • Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions, and communicate machine operation variations to supervisors or maintenance workers to diagnose problems and facilitate repairs.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices on equipment to promote cleanliness and longevity.
  • Dismantle defective machines and equipment, and install new or repaired parts as necessary.
  • Fulfill any other duties assigned by supervisors to support operations effectively.

Requirements:

  • Veterans are strongly encouraged to apply, bringing their valuable skills and dedication to the role.
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, and similar information.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience operating heavy equipment such as load and/or haul trucks, or related experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to safely operate large vehicles.
  • Willingness to work overtime, odd and unscheduled hours as required, and share on-call duties.
  • Ability to perform tasks that include walking, driving, climbing equipment, working within confined spaces, and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge of cement manufacturing processes, including raw materials, mining methods, production, shipping, and packaging, is advantageous.
  • Mechanical knowledge of equipment used, machines, and tools, including their uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with engineering and technology applied to cement production, including principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment.
  • Understanding of proper waste material allocation and environmental considerations.
