Job Requirements

The Inn at the Pier is looking for a Restaurant General Manager to join our team!

The Restaurant General Manager is responsible for ensuring efficient and effective operation of the hotel restaurants, bars and banquets in an attentive, friendly, and courteous manner, providing all guests with quality service while maximizing F&B revenue. They also provide leadership to the F&B team.

Compensation range: $85,000 - $90,000 / year

Essential Job Functions:

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with hotel standards, scheduling which will vary according to the business levels.
  • Ensure property-wide compliance with training and certification requirements such as Food Handlers, Alcohol Awareness, CPR, and brand-required training.
  • Provide overall direction and leadership to multiple outlets on property in alignment with the Company’s values.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of restaurant shifts, observing, providing hands-on guidance and leadership.
  • Facilitate daily shift meetings, periodic all hands meetings, and trainings to ensure consistency of service with all team members.
  • Respond timely to F&B team member inquiries.
  • Ensure the selection of high-quality candidates to join the F&B team. 
  • Provide feedback to team members on their performance. Complete 90 day and yearly reviews and future goals on time.
  • Handle disciplinary process & counsel team members according to hotel standards.
  • Anticipate purchase needs for linen, china, glass, silver, and complete bid recommendations.
  • Review F&B team members’ hours for payroll processing and submit to GM/AGM on a timely basis.
  • Prepare team member schedule according to business forecast, payroll budget guidelines and productivity requirements.
  • Assist F&B Managers in developing and implementing promotional/marketing ideas for outlets.
  • Ensure timely and accurate F&B inventory. 
  • Full command of F&B cost control and menu management.
  • Creative ability to decorate food tables/displays.
  • Timely and accurate completion of all periodic reporting.
  • Maintain hotel standards regarding Purchase Orders, vouchering of invoices and checkbook accounting.
  • Work closely with Accounting on follow-up items, i.e., returned checks, rejected credit cards, team member discrepancies, etc.
  • Operate all aspects of the F&B POS computer system.
  • Ensure correct and accurate cash and credit card handling.
  • Monitor all V.I.P.'s, special guests and requests.
  • Other duties as required.
Work Experience

Primary Requirements and Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of progressive F&B management experience in a hotel or restaurant.
  • Ability to work stressful situations while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Ability to anticipate needs, navigate challenging situations positively, and collaborate with others.
  • Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from disparate sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the needs of the situation.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, clarifying, and resolving the concerns and issues raised by supervisor, peers, subordinates, and guests.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly. Excellent communication/public speaking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to build rapport and trust with supervisor/owner/guests/employees.
  • Valid driver’s license without incidents exceeding company standards.

Educational Background:

  • 2 to 4-year college degree
