Hillsboro Medical Center is Hiring a Limited Journeyman Plant Electrician Near Hillsboro, OR

POSITION SUMMARY

Relocation Assistance available up to $15,000

Pay Range: $37.74/hr - $48.50/hr

The Limited Journeyman Plant Electrician under the direction of the Director of Facility Operations and the supervision of the Signing Electrician, installs, maintains and tests electrical distribution systems and associated electrical wiring, voice and data cabling. Repairs/installs electrical motors and fixtures. Works on both AC and DC circuits for low and high voltages. Rights, restrictions and responsibilities are within the requirements defined by ORS 918-282-0190 (Limited Journeyman Manufacturing Plant Electrician License).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Performed majority of the time:

· Installs, troubleshoots and maintains high voltage electrical systems (greater than 50 volts).

· Installs and maintains all data, security and alarm systems.

· Installs, replaces, repairs and maintains 120 volt / 277 volt lighting systems.

· Installs, replaces, repairs electrical motors, starters, and variable frequency drives.

· Inspects, installs, repairs and replaces circuit breakers, electrical panels, switches and transformers.

· Installs, maintains and repairs Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS’s).

· Conducts periodic testing of standby generators and transfer switches as defined in NFPA 110 (2010).

· Maintains records in accordance with code requirements.

· Develops and installs low voltage signaling and control interfaces for fire alarm systems, motor and equipment controls, and building management systems.

· Performs troubleshooting, making repairs and adjustments as necessary to paging and speaker systems.

· Performs troubleshooting making repairs and adjustments as necessary to voice, video and data lines.

· Identifies all distribution closets and circuits for data, security and alarms.

· Participates in inspection of contractor activities related to above-ceiling work, maintain compliance with proper cable routing and fire/smoke penetration standards.

· Performs fire/smoke penetration caulking on in-house projects if fire/smoke certification is held by employee and is active and current.

· Performs thermographic inspections on electrical systems if thermography certification is held by employee and is active and current.

· Assures compliance with applicable NFPA codes in all assigned areas of responsibility.

· Prepares project schedules, task lists and materials lists using Microsoft Excel.

· Maintains clean and orderly work environment.

· Service is coordinated and delivered in collaboration with client/patient/family and other healthcare team members to maximize outcome and use of resources.

· Completes documentation according to guidelines.

Performed occasionally but critical to successful performance of the job:

· Participates in interdisciplinary planning.

· Recognizes and reports unmet needs.

· Maintains familiarity with regulatory requirements as related to installed electrical low and high voltage systems.

· Assists in the periodic as-built updating of panel schedules and one-line drawings.

· Assesses self-learning needs and participates in educational programs as appropriate.

· Maintains an individual profile that documents educational requirements.

Education:

Required

· High school graduate or equivalent.

Experience:

Required

· Low voltage experience: experience installing structured cabling systems.

Preferred

· Work experience as an electrician in a hospital environment.

Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:

Required

· Current State of Oregon Limited Journeyman Plant Electrician License (PJ).

· Valid driver’s license for a least four (4) years.

Preferred

· Thermography and Fire/Smoke Prevention certifications.

· Uses effective communication skills taking into consideration body language, filters, listening, paraphrasing, and questions with customers of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

· Competent with Microsoft Office Outlook and Excel programs.

Preferred

· Bilingual skills a plus.

Other:

Required

· Drives a company owned vehicle as part of their job and is considered a Category A. driver.

· Satisfactory driving record which is defined as:

o No more than one (1) accident or moving violation on or off the job within the past 12 months, and

o No conviction for driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII) within the past five (5) years.

· Complete a defensive driving course within the first 90 days of employment.
