We are looking for a Registered Nurse who displays calm, confidence interventions and enhances an environment of compassion to people seeking help for serious symptoms of mental illness. This person should be aware of their approach to developing a healing environment in a hospital setting and provide leadership and healthy mentoring to staff also working within the same environment. This nurse will exhibit high standards of care, passion and knowledge of mental illness as they render nursing care and assistance to patients in a psychiatric facility; assist in supervising auxiliary personnel, help maintaining accurate patient records according to policy. The candidate must be familiar with Trauma Informed Care theory and practice.

Required Qualifications
The Registered Nurse must possess:
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Performs nursing techniques for the comfort and well-being of the patient. Prepares equipment and assists the physician during treatments or examinations. Administers prescribed medications, orally and by injections. Changes or assists the physician in changing dressings, cleaning wounds and incisions. Takes vital signs to detect deviations from normal and gauge progress of the patient. Observes, records and reports to supervisor or physician, patients’ condition, reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents. Maintains patients’ medical record on nursing observation and action taken, such as medications and treatments given, reactions, tests, intake, and emission of liquids and solids, temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure. Records nursing needs of patient on treatment plan to assure continuity of care. Observes emotional stability of patients, express interest in their progress and prepares them for continuing care after discharge. Explains procedures and treatments ordered to gain patients’ cooperation and allay apprehension. Must report to on-coming nurse at the change of each shift change. Also, must check narcotics with on-coming nurse, if applicable.
