Cedarhurst Elementary is seeking a Bilingual Paraeducator/Office Assistant/Paraeducator-Monitor to join their team! Bilingual Paraeducator: Provides individual and group academic tutoring support to ELL qualified students in their native language. The position collaborates with teachers on meeting individual students’ English development needs. The Bilingual paraeducator serves as a liaison between the school and students’ family. He/she provides interpretation services for non-English speaking families and school staff. This position works with schools and families to develop a welcoming climate in the schools. Leads and develops family engagement activities for the bilingual community. Position Note: This position requires oral and written proficiency in Spanish. The ACTFL test may be completed as part of a hiring process. The Office Assistant III provides coordination and facilitation of activities at the school. This position acts as a liaison between the students, staff, and community. The job of Paraeducator-monitor is done for the purpose of providing support to the instructional program within an assigned classroom with specific responsibility for working with individual and/or small groups of students; monitoring students in the classroom, playground, lunchroom, crossing streets, during loading/unloading buses, etc. and providing clerical support to teachers and staff. Paraeducator Certificate Program. Pursuant to Chapter 28A.413 RCW?and ?WAC 179 this position is required to complete standards-based training to include the initial completion of 28 hours of training (the Fundamental Course of Study) and an ongoing 70 hours (the General Certificate). The timeline for completion is variable and based upon an employee’s hire date.
