Highland Christian Academy is a nondenominational, private, K4-12th grade school located in Valdosta, Georgia. We offer an increasingly well-rounded program that includes opportunties for students to participate in 6 different sports (volleyball, XC, basketball, track, powerlifting, and baseball). Job Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and organized individual to oversee our athletic programs and promote a God-honoring, character building, and competitive environment for our students. The Athletic Director will be responsible for managing all aspects of our athletic department, including coordinating sports teams, organizing events, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Additionally, some teaching will be required.
Duties:
- Continue to develop an athletic program that aligns with the school's mission and goals
- Coordinate athletic activities, including, but not limited to, games, tournaments, and special events
- Recruit, hire, and evaluate coaches and staff members
- Collaborate with coaches to develop team strategies, practice plans, and game schedules
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and safety guidelines
- Manage budgets and allocate resources for equipment, uniforms, travel expenses, etc.
- Foster positive relationships with students, parents, staff members, and community stakeholders
- Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and character development among student-athletes
- Provide guidance and support to student-athletes in their academic pursuits
- Stay updated on current trends and best practices in athletics education administration
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience working with students (preferably in an educational setting)
- Strong knowledge of sports rules, regulations, and coaching techniques
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
- Valid driver's license
