Highland Pointe Animal Hospital is seeking a full-time veterinary technician or veterinary assistant to join our full-service, AAHA-ACCREDITED practice. We will consider training a pre-veterinary student or a student currently enrolled in a veterinary technician program that demonstrates excellence in learning, teamwork, and client service. We recently moved into our NEW STAND-ALONE hospital in (North) Flower Mound, Texas! Our hospital location is conveniently minutes from the DFW airport and I-35 East and West making it a desirable place to live and work!

Unlike human hospitals, animal hospitals are not required to be accredited. Veterinary hospitals are evaluated on approximately 900 standards of veterinary excellence in order to become accredited. In actuality, ONLY 12-15% of veterinary hospitals in the United States and Canada are accredited by AAHA.

Requirements for the position include but are not limited to:

• Providing hospitality to clients and pets for the entire duration of their visits
• Reviewing patient histories with clients during their visits
• Gathering patient vitals and weights during their visits
• Providing client education regarding preventative medicine
• Reviewing recommended treatment plans with clients during their visits
• Performing approved patient treatments, both on an inpatient and outpatient basis
• Placing intravenous catheters
• Performing blood draws
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare tissue/blood samples for outside laboratory testing
• Performing induction of anesthesia, maintenance of anesthesia, and recovery from anesthesia
• Performing dental cleanings
• Performing patient prep (both initial and sterile) for surgery
• Performing digital radiographs (standard survey and dental)
• Reviewing discharge orders with clients
• Cleaning and maintaining the functionality of medical equipment
• Cleaning and maintaining organization of exam rooms, treatment area, surgical suite, and kennel area

All candidates must:

• Possess a solid work history with reliable attendance and punctuality
• Have the ability to work Saturdays
• Live within a commutable distance with reliable transportation
