Full Time/Part Time Status: Salary, full time, exempt

Regular/Temporary: Regular

Salary: Teacher Framework (Steps 1-29) Range: $62,653 - $111,659. Salary is commensurate with experience and education level.

Developed by a coalition of San Diego civic leaders and educators, High Tech High opened in September 2000 as a small public charter school with plans to serve approximately 450 students. HTH has evolved into an integrated network of sixteen charter schools serving approximately 6,350 students in grades K-12 across four campuses.

HTH seeks an Instructional Coach to join the faculty at an HTH school or campus.

JOB SUMMARY

The Instructional Coach is a critical lever in improving student achievement. The role of the Instructional Coach is to build teacher capacity and their understanding of instructional practices as related to progressive pedagogy and project-based learning. An instructional coach is a learner who models continuous improvement, lifelong learning, and goes above and beyond to ensure student success. Instructional coaches work collaboratively as a team with the School Director, Dean, HTH Leadership, Education Specialists, and Academic Coaches. Instructional coaches will promote reflection, provide guidance and structure to teachers, and focus on strengths, collaboration, and common issues of concern. They are responsible for ensuring high-quality instruction in classrooms through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching and providing feedback to teachers. The instructional coach will demonstrate diversity, equity, and inclusion and model culturally responsive pedagogy. This is not a supervisory position and does not include the evaluation of colleagues.

Duties Include:

HTH believes that high-quality instruction, and its continuous refinement, will lead to success for our students. We are looking for teachers who are highly effective in each of the following areas:

●Contribute to the development of systems and structures to improve teacher practice within schools.

●Support teachers by sharing multiple instructional strategies/processes.

●Serve as curriculum and instruction advisors- sharing teaching tips, tricks, resources, strategies, and ideas for increasing student engagement.

●Develop staff members’ knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors through a variety of professional development targeted topics.

●Improve student and teacher performance in targeted areas.

●Model lessons in classrooms on a regular basis.

●Support the instructional development of teachers in understanding academic instruction, differentiation and scaffolding.

●Build strong relationships with teachers, administrators, and other coaches.

●Provide direction and coordination for best instructional practices.

●Assist teachers in understanding the HTH mission and core values, LCAP initiatives and provide resources, materials, tools, information, etc. to support classroom instruction and planning.

●Support teachers and administrators in using data to improve instruction on all levels.

●Assist teachers with planning and pacing of lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, pedagogy and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of their students.

●Informally observe (non-evaluative) lessons and provide feedback for a teacher’s professional growth and students’ success.

●Develop coaching plans for teachers to ensure student improvement.

●Facilitate professional development and support professional learning communities at assigned site(s).

●Advocate for high standards that define expectations for all student learning

●Collaborate with classroom teachers and academic coaches to continuously monitor, track and analyze student achievement data in order to identify needed supports and strategies.

●Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the School Director.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

●Bachelor’s Degree

●Valid California Teaching Credential or ability to attain one based on out of state certification

●CLAD or English Language Learner Authorization

●5 years of successful teaching experience

●Master’s Degree (preferred)

●Experience accelerating student learning and achievement

●Experience and desire to use data and technology as levers to drive instruction

●Demonstrated leadership experience or potential

●Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to refine practice.
