Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Dean of Students to join our team. The Dean of Students will play a crucial role in supporting our mission by overseeing student behavior, discipline, and overall well-being. This position requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of special education principles, and a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of students with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement school-wide behavior management strategies that promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to support students' social-emotional development and address behavioral concerns.
  • Conduct regular assessments of student behavior and progress, and provide appropriate interventions and support services as needed.
  • Serve as a liaison between students, parents, teachers, and administrators to ensure effective communication and problem-solving.
  • Lead the development and implementation of individualized behavior plans for students with special needs, in collaboration with the special education team.
  • Provide guidance and support to teachers and staff in implementing behavior management strategies and techniques.
  • Coordinate with outside agencies and community resources to provide additional support services for students with complex behavioral and emotional needs.
  • Stay informed about best practices in special education, behavior management, and related fields, and provide training and professional development opportunities for staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with students with special needs, preferably in a school setting.
  • Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of students, families, and staff.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive school culture.
  • Certification in behavior management techniques or related areas is a plus.
