High Country Behavioral Health is Hiring a Medical Assistant - Full Time Near Pocatello, ID

Position Open: Medical Assistant / Full-time

High Country Behavioral Health is a nonprofit organization committed to providing affordable access to mental health and addiction services in Wyoming and Idaho. Our service providers work together to relieve the suffering of our clients and help them to achieve the happiness and well-being that they deserve.

The ideal candidate will work as part of a treatment team to provide exceptional medical, mental health and addiction recovery services to our clients by assisting the provider(s) with Client examination and treatment. Responsible for Client histories, routine lab procedures, collection, and preparation of lab specimens for transfer, and Client education. Respond to Client medical inquiries as directed by provider(s). Assist provider(s) with medication reconciliation, and day-to-day phone call return.

Desired Education, Certifications and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred Medical Assistant Certificate

  4. COORDINATED- Organizes and delivers service in the proper order. Displays good organization skills and utilizes resources wisely. 
  5. ACCURATE- Works carefully and precisely, with attention to detail. 
  6. THOROUGH- Meets all the requirements of his/her position. Is able to evaluate and follow up on his/her tasks. 

General Teamwork and Service Expectations: 

  1. Display and encourage sensitivity to the needs of the visitors, and co-workers. 
  2. Treat others with consideration, courtesy, and respect. 
  3. Preform duties willingly and with initiative; shares necessary information so co-workers can do the same.

  5. Demonstrate Judgement and tact when dealing with others.

  7. Communicate effectively with clients, visitors, and co-workers; take action to clarify information received from others.

  9. Timely- recognizes time as a customer's most valuable resource and responds promptly to Clients' and co-workers' needs.

Role Specific: Work role responsibilities 

  1. Maintain general appearance, cleanliness, inventory, and organization of clinical areas.
  2. Prepare and replenish supplies. Maintain inventory. Order supplies as permitted by Clinic Supervisor. Secure authorization for ordering selected supplies as identified by the Clinic Director.
  3. Prepare clients for examination.
  4. Take client histories, height, weight and temperature, blood pressure, and pulse.
  5. Administer medications and injections and medical treatment under the provider(s) supervision.
  6. Assist in collection of specimens and completion of laboratory tests. Prepare and transfer specimens to laboratory services as directed by provider(s).
  7. Complete client education as directed by provider(s).
  8. Record and maintain testing results in HCBH (High Country Behavioral Health) electronic health record.
  9. Receive and organize medication samples. Ensuring medication expiration check is conducted monthly.
  10. Properly dispose of contaminated and disposable items. Dispose of hazardous waste materials per clinic policies and current proper procedures.
  11. Assists in the proper scheduling and registration of clients, and the maintenance of Client medical records with provider.
  12. Communicate medical treatment, pharmaceutical, and related information to Client's and respective health care providers as directed by provider(s).
  13. Observe absolute confidence regarding client records and information.
  14. Assist in front desk duties as needed; this includes answering phones, client intakes, scheduling, receipting of payments, etc.

  1. Knowledge of state and federal regulations, policies, and procedures in accordance with state certification.
  2. Ability to operate various office equipment
  3. Ability to maintain confidentiality
  4. Ability to read, write, and calculate mathematical figures
  5. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables. 
  6. Ability to work with others
  7. Ability to manage multiple assignments/projects; meet timelines and prioritize responsibility
  8. Ability to handle stressful situations and react appropriately
  9. Ability to use computers efficiently with a proficient knowledge of Microsoft office products
