Hicks & Company Environmental/Archeological Consultants is Hiring a Community Impacts Specialist/NEPA Specialist Near Austin, TX

Hicks & Company is looking for a highly motivated Community Impacts Specialist/NEPA Specialist to join our talented group in Austin, Texas. This position offers a challenging and important role on a team with a commitment to quality work. To be considered, candidates must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team. This is a full-time, salaried position in Austin with travel throughout Texas.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Development of Community Impacts Assessments, socioeconomic analyses, and Environmental Justice analyses;
  • Participation in a variety of multi-disciplinary projects, including transportation (TxDOT, FAA, etc.), park planning, and local municipality projects;
  • Analysis of socioeconomic data (Census data), local and regional planning documents, and other related data sources;
  • Site visits and photodocumentation;
  • Participation in public involvement efforts;
  • Client and agency coordination; and
  • Effective collaboration and communication with all team members.

Minimum qualifications and experience include:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an applicable field (environmental science, community and regional planning, etc.)
  • Experience in environmental consulting or equivalent public agency employment (minimum 3 years; 5 years preferred);
  • An interest in human environment-related issues, including Environmental Justice and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act;
  • A working knowledge of NEPA and related environmental laws and regulations;
  • The ability to write clearly and concisely under a deadline.
